Franco-Danish painter Eva Nielsen was selected by LVMH luxury group for its LVMH Métiers d’Art 2021 artist in residence program.

LVMH Métiers d’Art invites Eva Nielsen as 2021 artist in residence

For six months starting in January 2021, Eva Nielsen will collaborate with artisans at Tanneries Roux, recognized for their exceptional savoir- faire in calf leather tanning and finishing, and Twinpix, a silk printing workshop who has first developed an innovative double-sided printing technology in Europe. Both manufactures are located in France, in the Drôme region.

The LVMH Métiers d’Art artist in residence program, directed by Léa Chauvel-Lévy, is designed to draw on the materials and savoir-faire of producers recognized for their unique quality as the inspiration for a major artistic project. At the same time, the program stimulates the creativity and innovation of the artisans as they engage with the artist’s vision. During the first half of 2021, the artist Eva Nielsen will thus create works of art combining leather and silk.

Eva Nielsen, 37 years old, graduated from Les Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2009. Winner of many prestigious prizes, she notably won the Grand Prix de la Tapisserie d’Aubusson in 2017 and has since participated in several collective exhibitions in France and abroad. Her work has also been presented in monographic exhibitions in Paris (Galerie Jousse Entreprise), Istanbul (The Pill), Tunis and London (Selma Feriani) and is part of several public and private collections.

” Each year, the LVMH Métiers d’Art artist in residence program is a new six-month adventure during which an artist has a chance to engage deeply with a manufacturer known for its unique quality. This year, we are particularly pleased to engage the encounter between Eva Nielsen and two manufacturers working with materials as different as leather and silk. We wish Eva and the teams at Tanneries Roux and Twinpix an exciting creative journey for this new residency and look forward to discovering the fruits of this encounter”, said Jean Baptiste Voisin, Chief Strategy Officer of the LVMH Group and President of LVMH Métiers d’Art.
