When your children achieve something significant, you have to celebrate it. Show that you appreciate their efforts in accomplishing something. It reinforces positive behaviour. These are other ways to show that you recognise your children‘s accomplishments.

Praise them

As soon as you notice the accomplishment, you have to say something good about it. It doesn’t matter how big or small it is. Your children deserve your praises. Otherwise, they will think that there’s nothing that will come out of doing something good.

Create a reward system

Positive reinforcement helps strengthen good behaviour. When you reward your children for doing something good like finishing a household chore, you can offer a reward. However, you have to find something compatible with the actions done. You also don’t want to spoil them and keep asking for prizes in exchange for doing a task.

Display the result of hard work

Another way to show your appreciation is by displaying the result of hard work. You can hang it on the wall or your
fridge. You can also bring some of them to your office. Nothing shows how proud you are more than displaying their accomplishments. If they earned trophies or medals at school, you could create a cabinet for all these accomplishments. It encourages them to do more.

Let them decide the prize

You can also allow your children to take part in determining the reward for an accomplishment. It’s a good idea since you don’t have to think about what to give. You also don’t have to worry about a frustrated look for an
unsatisfactory reward. If they love playing with toys, you can present Playmobil City Life as an option. It’s a fun toy that children love playing with. You can also show videos of other children playing with it to convince them to give it a try.

Go on a trip

When your children are mature enough to appreciate travelling to other places, you might want to give it as a
reward. It’s even more suitable after months of getting locked down. They will feel excited that they can finally leave the house and go to other places. You can also let them decide where to go. They might want to visit some places that they only saw in movies or learned at school. Besides, your entire family needs this break. Even if you only stayed home for the past several months, it was exhausting. It’s not easy to do the same thing over and over again. The health crisis brought by the pandemic also affected people’s mental health. The best way to make it up is by going on a trip.

You don’t have to give a prize for excellent behaviour all the time. However, you must recognise what your children did. Let them know that you saw the behavioural changes and that you appreciate them. It’s also a good idea to fill them with love and support. It motivates them to be better.
