Staying true to the couturier’s passion for art and women, which never ceased to inspire his creativity, the House of Dior has brought twelve women from theinternational art scene together for an exceptional carte blanche exhibition, inviting them to express their vision of the iconic Miss Dior bottle, its spirit and its emblematic design codes.

Christian Dior celebrates iconic Miss Dior perfume at Château de la Colle Noire.

Christian Dior designed this peaceful haven nestled in the Provençal hills as a work of art in itself, graced by a thousand jasmine and may rose flowers, inspiring the legendary Miss Dior perfume. “Miss Dior was born,” the couturier once said, “of those evenings in Provence, alive with fireflies, where young jasmine plays a descant to the melody of the night and the land.”

An ode to love and beauty, Miss Dior embodies the aesthete designer’s vision as he conceived the New Look silhouette in the 1950s. He dreamed, he said, of“seeing all the gowns appear one by one from the bottle, dressing women in a trail of desire.” The ardent green chypre floral accord he created heightens the sensuality and essence of femininity. Before it became a signature scent, the delicate fragrance was first an homage to the couturier’s sister, Catherine Dior, a discreet woman who led an exceptional life.

Parfums Christian Dior celebrates the passion the designer and founder of the French luxury Maison had for art and women in the new Miss Dior exhibition, which debuted on October 15 at the Château de la Colle Noire, near Grasse. Twelve famous women artists reveal theri interpretation of the legendary Miss Dior perfume.

The exhibition continues the intimate dialogue Christian Dior always had with art, culture and women, who he strived to make more beautiful and happier with his creations. The Château de la Colle Noire and its gardens – a serene rural retreat for the designer, far from the bustling frenzy of Paris – now welcome carte blanche pieces by twelve women artists. Visitors can admire the work of Ingrid Donat, Sabine Marcelis, Hua Wang, Mimosa Echard, Bianca Beck, Marcella Barceló, Pia Maria Raeder, Morgane Tschiember, Bethan Laura Wood, Anya Kielar, Daishi Luo and Haruka Kojin.

French artist Ingrid Donat created a frosted glass bottle encased by a bronze shell, like a delicate object protected by a shield. This piece speaks about a woman in all her strength and fragility. It is a tribute to Catherine Dior, the inspiration behind the Miss Dior fragrance and who, in her opinion, embodies strength, courage and delicateness.

German sculptor Pia Maria Raeder seeks to translate her admiration and abstract interpretation of nature in her work. She pays tribute to Christian Dior who was also very much inspired by nature. She celebrates the beauty you can find on the ocean floor with a sculpture representing the famous “New Look” silhouette.

Chinese artist Daishi Luo played with apparent contradictions with this piece – the softness of the pink-colored metal and the houndstooth pattern which looks like a mechanical pixel grid. She wanted to convey that Miss Dior is both soft and powerful.

For her sculpture, Spanish artist Marcella Barceló imagined that the Miss Dior fragrance had come to life and turned into incense and flowers, from which a young girl springs up, in reference to Alice In Wonderland.

Maison Christian Dior also continues to promote the empowerment of women by supporting the youth education initiative led by Charlize Theron. The videos #diorstandwithwomen and #diorchinup feature interviews with passionate and influential women and their accomplishments in the face of hard challenges.

Automobili Pininfarina unveils first high-end timepiece for the new Battista

BOVET 1822, crafters of beautifully designed and sophisticated timepieces, reveals the exquisite new Battista Tourbillon, created alongside the pure-electric Battista hyper GT.

@Pininfarina Battista Tourbillon from @BOVET 1822

The Battista Tourbillon timepiece celebrates the creation of the car designed and completely assembled in Cambiano.

Powerful. Precise. Beautiful. Elegant. These words perfectly describe the Automobili Pininfarina Battista and now, the new Battista Tourbillon from BOVET 1822. Working closely with Automobili Pininfarina, BOVET has created a timepiece that perfectly complements the Battista hypercar.

The world’s first pure electric hyper GT has been recognized for its design excellence with several awards to its name already, as production of pre-series Battista passes completion. Each Battista will be bespoke to the client’s personal specification, ensuring unrivalled exclusivity.

The timepiece incorporates fresh and groundbreaking ideas with a classically oriented watchmaking structure and extraordinary finishing.

Pascal Raffy, owner, BOVET 1822, explains: “At BOVET 1822, the human element is essential, and so it is for Automobili Pininfarina. Luxury cars and timepieces share the same values: exceptional design and performance. When you start a project and there is no interest other than the pursuit of perfection, passions do not just add up – they multiply.”

BOVET’s exquisite craftsmanship made it possible to design remarkable details, making nearly every piece in-house at the production facility in Tramelan,
Switzerland. Sapphire crystals on both sides ensure that the inner beauty of this mechanical masterpiece can be enjoyed and admired.

Inspiration came from Battista’s beautiful exterior curves and detailing. The design teams took these shapes and created watch hands, bridges, dials, and other structures that connect the design of Battista to the timepiece, with fluid, Pininfarina-style shapes such as the flying bridge above the two main dials of the timepiece.

Further references can be found in the subtle background characteristics, such as the Triangolo pattern on the dials, reimagined in miniature and viewed through the sapphire crystal exhibition case back. The timepiece features the Automobili Pininfarina collaborative flags on the power reserve dial. In the Battista Tourbillon timepiece the E-Heart-shaped aperture on the back shows BOVET’s patented differential winding mechanism that makes rewinding the timepiece for a full 10 days of power reserve easier and quicker. The 45.6-millimeter case consists of two large sapphire crystals, enhancing the lightness and purity of the design.

Luca Borgogno, Chief Design Officer, Automobili Pininfarina, explains: “The Battista Tourbillon truly represents the Automobili Pininfarina design philosophy in sublime, small scale. We reached a level of detail and design quality that has not been seen before. It makes a perfect match with the Battista hyper GT.”

The fine detailing in Iconica Blu is combined with traditional finishing such as Côtes de Genève, angling, and polishing. Super-LumiNova has been generously applied to all the hands, including on the top of the tourbillon cage as well as the hand of the power reserve.

Automobili Pininfarina believes that luxury can and must be sustainable, without compromise to quality or beauty. By reconsidering and re-inventing materials and processes, the journey toward a sustainable future accelerates. In the Battista hyper GT, new methodologies have been introduced for tanning seat leather with olive leaves, recycling materials throughout the production process, and creating innovative new materials by combining offcuts of leather and wood.

Mechanical timepieces are by their very nature sustainable, as they are meant to last virtually forever with the right care and service. BOVET manufacturing processes are designed to capture and recycle any and all waste, while mechanical timepieces use no disposable batteries. With the Battista, the decision was to not use alligator leather straps, but instead a newly designed rubber strap that is 100 per cent vegan.

Refik Anadol unveils Serpenti – the first ever digital sculpture and AI-imagined fragrance done for a luxury house

Bvlgari celebrates Serpenti in sculpture artwork created using dynamic, three-dimensional AI data.

@Bvlgari Serpenti Metamorphosis

Italian luxury house Bvlgari continues the Serpenti Metamorphosis exhibition inaugurated during Milan Design Week, featuring a captivating installation by multimedia artist Refik Anadol, created using artificial intelligence. The digital sculpture – the fist ever done for a luxury house – is on display until October 31 at the Piazza Duomo in Milan before embarking on a world tour. Upon the completion of the tour it will be converted into a multisensorial and multidimensional NFT (Non-Fungible Token) and sold at an auction. Proceeds will be donated to a charity chosen by the Italian Maison and Refik Anadol.

The 3D sculpture celebrates the beauty of nature and the mythic Serpenti icon, the emblem of Bvlgari and the perfect symbol of metamorphosis. It was designed using algorithms to reproduce an image of nature generated by analyzing some 200 million pictures of nature and 160 million pictures of flowers, plus 120,000 images of snakes. Metamorphosis becomes both a source of inspiration and the creative method, since the machine is able to learn what a flower is – colors, patterns and shapes – and then conceive images of flowers that exist only in its digital memory, reconstituting them in a vibrant work of art. The installation proposes a striking aesthetic approach to the relationship between nature, art, technology and luxury.

@Bvlgari Serpenti Metamorphosis Launch Event

This approach was conceived by the mind of Refik Anadol. Born in Istanbul, the LA-based new media artist has won numerous awards for his innovative works.

Listen as he explains the concept behind ‘Serpenti Metamorfosi’ and how he turned data from our natural world into this three-dimensional and dynamic digital installation. In the future, Serpenti Metamorphosis artwork will become exclusive and unique in the digital world thanks to NFT (Non-fungible Token) technology.

To enrich this unique multi sensorial experience, Bvlgari Master Perfumer Sophie Labbe and fragrance creation firm Firmenich worked with Refik Anadol to create the first ever AI-imagined fragrance, “Rainforest Serpenti”. Thanks to Bvlgari’s expertise, the sculpture celebrates every dimension of nature, including its scent, awakening faculties of perception, sensation and smell.

This immersion into the Serpenti universe is completed by an exhibition of creations by the Roman Maison from the 1940s to the 1960s at the Bvlgari store in Milan until October 30, as well as the Bvlgari Serpenti Hub. This digital space dedicated to the Maison’s icon features exclusive content revealing the eternal metamorphosis that inspires Bvlgari creations.
