The announcement was made ahead of CES 2023, the world’s most influential technology event.

Many honorees will showcase their product in the Innovation Awards Showcase at CES, located in the Venetian Expo. Last month, CTA announced Innovation Awards honorees during CES Unveiled events in Paris and Amsterdam, including 28 products from France and 12 from the Netherlands. Those designated as honorees, including product descriptions and photos, can be found at CES.tech/Innovation.

CES has partnered with the World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS) to showcase the critical role of technology in support of the United Nations’ efforts to advance human security around the world. For CES 2023, CTA introduced a new category of Innovation Awards showcasing technologies advancing human rights. The Human Security for All category includes eight new tech subcategories.

Owned and produced by CTA, CES 2023 will take place in Las Vegas on Jan. 5-8, 2023 with Media Days taking place Jan. 3-4, 2023.

Attendees will experience new technologies from global brands, hear about the future of technology from thought leaders and collaborate face-to-face with other attendees. The show will highlight how innovations in sustainability, transportation and mobility, digital health, the metaverse and more are addressing the world’s greatest challenges. Audiences will hear from industry experts during live keynotes, including leaders from John Deere, BMW and AMD.

Graphene Radiator By Graphene Square

The Graphene Radiator is a virtual fireplace that generates heat from graphene, the thinnest (one-atom-thick) and strongest material in the world. Recently discovered, its discoverers were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics (2010). And now, we bring it to use, where heat can be generated more efficiently with less space and 30% less energy.

2022 Innovation of the Year Award in yacht design won by a transforming sunbed arrangement

@Sunseeker At @BOAT International Design and Innovation Awards 2022

British luxury performance motor yacht brand Sunseeker has won the ‘Innovation of the Year’ award at the BOAT International Design and Innovation Awards 2022 for its spectacular X-TEND system. The awards acknowledged everything from architecture, styling, innovation and engineering of today’s superyachts to the changing demands of owners and exceptional use of new technology.

The X-TEND is an innovative approach to making the best use of both aft and cockpit deck areas using a transforming sunbed arrangement. The novel innovation converts to transform the ‘Beach Club’ area of a Sunseeker yacht into a private outdoor sanctuary. The X-TEND sunbed system offers diverse functionality at the stern of Sunseeker’s larger yacht models in the range.

Available on the new Sunseeker 88 yacht, 90 Ocean and 100 yacht, it provides a multifunctional waterside area that hydraulically opens to become a large sun pad ideal for sunbathing at water level. When the sunbed is not in use, it is cleverly concealed into the stern, ensuring that owners can make the most of the platform to access and launch a tender if specified or simply sunbathe waterside.

The X-TEND sunbed converts to transform the ‘Beach Club’ area of a Sunseeker yacht into a private outdoor sanctuary.

Set beneath the X-TEND sunbed are a variety of options to complement the owner’s desired usage of the space, an overhead rain shower and a generous storage space for all the essentials any owner would need at water level, including dedicated lockers for two Seabobs, diving equipment and towels. Whilst standing on the platform, the moulding of the X-TEND can provide an area of shade in its semi-raised position.

In its fully raised position, the X-TEND sunbed completely transforms the aft cockpit with its generous sized sunbed facing forward into this popular social seating area, adding over one metre of additional usable space for large groups. The innovative design allows a multiplicity of arrangements on one of the main entertainment spaces on-board.

Andrea Frabetti, Chief Executive Officer at Sunseeker International, commented: “To win the ‘Innovation of the Year’ award at the Superyacht Design Festival is an incredible achievement for the company and is a testament to the hard work of the team which comprises of over 100 designers and engineers. Sunseeker’s in-house Design and Engineering Team is continuously looking for ways to improve the user experience by providing novel and exciting solutions to client requirements.”

Ewen Foster, Chief Technical Officer at Sunseeker International, added: “These prestigious international awards attract global interest, and winning our category against such illustrious and strong competition demonstrates just how committed and capable we are in being able to offer clever innovation to our clients whatever the type and size of the vessel. Innovation is along with practicality, efficiency and style, has always been a primary driving force within our Design Team. The X-TEND™ feature was conceived and engineered entirely by our very strong and experienced in-house Design and Engineering Team. Our design process involves all disciplines under one roof, working in parallel on all aspects which ensures innovation can blossom and immediately be incorporated into the broader design. This ensures our clients enjoy a standout wow-factor feature that complements, and is completely integrated, within the wider yacht design.”

Radical Innovation Award Winners: This drone hotel gives you the power to travel almost anywhere you desire

Can this idea have the power to transform the hotel industry? HOK’s Driftscape Drone Hotel Concept Wins 2016 Radical Innovation Award.

HOK’s Driftscape self-sustaining mobile hotel--

Driftscape, a mobile, self-sustaining high-end hospitality concept designed by HOK, a global design, architecture, engineering and planning firm, earned the grand prize at the 10th Annual Radical Innovation Award. HOK Driftscape is a self-sustaining mobile hotel conceived as egg-shaped pods.

Through the use of drone technology, Driftscape allows guests to roam or touch down in diverse locations that were previously unattainable at traditional hotels. Inspired by the fundamental human urge to wander, Driftscape hotels are made up of several modular glass units for ease of construction and mobility. Components include the “Oasis,” featuring operational and community units with a food and beverage element, and the “Driftcraft,” a single volume guest room unit that provides 360-degree views to the outside world and is fitted for untethered excursions of two to three days. Driftcraft is designed to leave minimal impact on sensitive environments, says the design team.

“To set off on an adventure, to leave all comforts behind and wander in pursuit of the unknown has been a fundamental urge of humankind throughout history,” says HOK’s team of experts. “We thus set out in search of a way to fulfill this urge, seeking a fully ‘immersive,’ significantly heightened guest experience and to provide a unique way to wander/drift and experience viewpoint of this amazing world we live in, from above and within.”

“What excites us about Driftscape is that the idea of journeying to unreachable, remote areas has long-been a key aspiration of hotel owners, developers and travelers,” said Randa Tukan, IDC, LEED AP, director of interior design for HOK in Canada. “This concept would make that a reality.”

“We strive to think of what could be in the future based on our research, insight and experience,” added Ian Rolston, LEED GA, a senior project interior designer in HOK’s Toronto office. “Our vision was guided by Jules Verne-inspired iconography, combined with 21st-century technology. By reimagining current technology, we have devised a concept that could be built in the foreseeable future.”

Space View Inn

Other winners include Space View Inn, a form of space travel that focuses on principles of transcendence and inclusion, and Nesting, completely customizable modular units for urban parks and landscapes.

Current space structures are characterized by small, confined spaces not conducive to meaningful and enjoyable travel experiences. Space View Inn proposes using an expanded truss system to support and add boundaries to a main spherical volume that allows guests to experience incredible views as well as microgravity in a large interior space. Additionally, the concept proposes a more inclusive, democratic form of space travel by introducing a lottery system that makes the experience possible for ordinary individuals, as well the very wealthy.

Nesting
Nesting reimagines how we utilize urban parks and landscapes through a partnership between public and private entities. In response to the shortage of available space within cities, the lack of funding for essential parks and public spaces, and increasingly confined, restricted urban lifestyles, Nesting proposes introducing smart, flexible private spaces that will generate new experiences as well as revenue. The completely customizable modular units may be connected for versatile uses from suites to meeting rooms, and aim to create a greater sense of wellbeing through interaction with nature, as well as community.
