A timepiece featuring a style emblematic of the Art Deco movement. Baume & Mercier Hampton watches are mounted on metal bracelets that may be interchanged according to your whims.

The Hampton timepiece, the iconic Baume & Mercier collection, pays tribute to Art Deco with the launch of a new contemporary collection.

For 2020, the Hampton collection reveals new silhouettes and offers shapes that pay tribute to the world-renowned architectural movement of the 1920s. In the image of the great Art Deco trends of the day, the curves of Baume & Mercier Hampton watch take precedence over right angles and give beauty to the light gliding on smooth surfaces.

The self-winding pieces have a sapphire back with four screws, while the quartz versions have a closed back.

The dials, protected by a domed sapphire crystal, are adorned with contemporary Arabic numerals emphasized by riveted indexes and accentuated by sword-shaped hands. The design with pure forms, combined with the perfectly balanced proportions of the watch, bring the piece a subtle fluidity and softness and offers clear visibility of the time. This creative approach is similar to that of the famous architectural movement, combining functionality with luxury.

Hampton for Men watches presented at 2020 Watches & Wonders Geneva

The men’s timepieces come to life with the three-hand self-winding movements, of which the oscillating mass of the hour, minute and small seconds hands is decorated with the “Côtes de Genève” design. Depending on the model, each watch features a 38 or 42 hour power reserve. The passing time appears on silver-tone and grained dials with various opaline textures. The contemporary sword- shaped black ruthenium hands add character, masterfully contrasting with the hue of the dial. A bicolour black and grey minute track structures the entire dial.

The Hampton watch is also available in a version featuring a large date with dual time zone and day/night indicator: this is one of the notable pieces of the collection. The piece has a 42-hour power reserve. This watch, too, expresses refinement down to the finest detail. The self-winding Soprod TT651 movement is enhanced with a “Côtes de Genève” design.

Hampton for Women: the ladies’ watches play on colour.

The diamond-set dial in white mother-of-pearl, opaline silver, and sunray satin-polished blue dials are all adorned with a delicate grey minute track. The watches are driven by a new-generation quartz movement with an optimised 7-year reliability. The quartz-powered ladies’ timepiece includes a scratch-resistant curved sapphire crystal and a polished stainless steel case. The calfskin leather strap is interchangeable, offering the wearer the freedom to transform the look of the watch with a simple change.

The new offerings make way for trendy pantones such as liquorice and the very elegant light brown. New this year, there is also a collection of eleven additional calfskin straps in radiant hues: ocean, coral, turquoise, lime, green, black, orchid, mauve, passionfruit, poppy and mango, not to mention a light brown wrap-around strap with cream overstitching.

A piece featuring a pastel strap also brightens the summer style, in a captivating sky blue exclusively developed by Baume & Mercier. For a dressier look, the Hampton offers a sleek three-row satin-polished metal bracelet.

The men’s pieces are mounted on a black alligator strap with square scales, emphasised by grey overstitching and equipped with a triple folding clasp with safety push-pieces. Men’s styles are also offered in various strap colours and options, thanks to an additional selection offering trendy hues such as brown, grey and navy blue.

Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept – an ultra-thin watch that you have never seen before

See the ultra-revolution first-hand with this new Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept unveiled at 2020 Watches & Wonders Geneva.

Meet the thinnest mechanical watch ever.

The incredible ultra-thin revolution is brought into a new era with this record-breaking watchmaking creation from Piaget. This re-energized version of Piaget’s iconic 9P movement, the 900P-UC movement is based on the luxury manufacture’s concept of fusing the case and the movement.

These Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept watches display innovation upon innovation. 4 years to produce and a lifetime to admire, wear record-breaking thinness on your wrist with this open-work design, and see the ultra-revolution first-hand. In cobalt alloy, this unbelievably thin watch is the product of years of obsession paid off, a groundbreaking feat of microengineering. The new Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept is the world’s thinnest mechanical hand-wound watch: 2 mm. The timepiece presents a total fusion between the case and the Manufacture movement.

A groundbreakingly-thin watch for men with a blue technical textile strap and a cobalt ardillon buckle.

“This luxury watch for men also features our other innovations, from the integral winding crown, ultra-thin crystal, new constructions for
the barrel and energy regulation. With wheels as thin as 0.12 mm and a 0.2 mm sapphire crystal case, this exceptional watch is only 2
mm thick,” says Piaget.

“In 2018, after four years of research and development, the watch-and-jewelry brand achieved a new level of horological slimness with the Altiplano Ultimate Concept watch, whose case was an astounding 2 mm thick. Following two years of further refinements, the model still has “Concept” in its name but is now commercially available,” commented Bloomberg in its review of Watches & Wonders novelties.

The Altiplano Ultimate Concept began in 2014 as an idea and an ambition.

The high-end manufacture assembled some of its finest engineers, watchmakers, and designers and asked a simple question: “How can we reduce thickness to the very limits of feasibility, while making no sacrifice to reliability or aesthetic appeal?” The challenge was set.

To meet this challenge, the most talented men and women in their professions would have to find innovative new solutions. To save precious tenths of a millimetre, they chose a new ultra-rigid and robust cobalt-based high-tech alloy, stopping the watch from buckling due to its extreme slenderness. They erased the distinction between movement and case, by making the case both an exterior component and the movement main plate. And, discovering solutions to challenges that had never before been set, they filed five patents for the technological innovations essential to making the Altiplano Ultimate Concept possible.

But what people wanted to know was whether or not such a complex and technically advanced watch could ever be produced commercially and, if so, would it be a practical proposition for daily use?

In 2020, Piaget is proud to announce that the answers to those two questions are ‘yes’ and ‘yes’ -because the Altiplano Ultimate Concept is no longer just an ambitious experiment in breaking the boundaries of horological micro-engineering, but a fully developed and tested watch that is now available for watch lovers and collectors to buy, own and use.

Bespoke finishes and unique features are often considered key to luxury, a fact that Piaget recognised more than 50 years ago when it introduced its innovative ‘Style Selector’ at its New York boutique in order to offer customers the opportunity to choose the shape of their watch case, the type of dial and bracelet and the extent of the gem setting. The idea proved so popular that it was rolled-out to Piaget stores around the world -and it has been revived today by making the Altiplano Ultimate Concept extensively customisable to the requirements of individual owners.

As a result, buyers may specify the color of the bridge and dial, the finish of the hands and the main plate and select straps that match or contrast -a range of options that will allow the Altiplano Ultimate Concept to be created in more than 10,000 permutations, thus ensuring that few will be alike and most will be truly unique. The Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept will, of course, be a rare watch in any event -but, with so many different combinations of colors and finishes available, there is little to no chance of a meeting anyone else wearing an identical example.

Born from duality: Yohji Yamamoto unveils Big Bang GMT All Black watch made with Hublot

Born from duality: Hublot debuts new collaboration with Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto.

In May 2020, Swiss Luxury watch brand Hublot will celebrate the grand opening of its new flagship Boutique on Chuo-Dori Street in Ginza, Tokyo. To celebrate this important milestone, the watchmaker has collaborated with the renowned designer Yohji Yamamoto to release the limited edition Big Bang GMT All Black Yohji Yamamoto.

The world-famous avant-garde fashion designer and master tailor Yohji Yamamoto is known for his avant-garde tailoring featuring Japanese design aesthetics and for having created “The Shock of Black”. The concept shattered preconceptions of traditional tailoring. But the ultimate representation of the world view of designer Yohji Yamamoto is through the creation of clothing. The designer has presented an antithesis of traditional Western dressmaking since his debut at Paris Fashion Week in 1981.

“This watch can easily display the time zones of the two cities where I’m based, Tokyo and Paris. Moreover, the hours are invisible. As a person who isn’t always forthcoming, I find that highly amusing. I’m pleased to have taken part in the creation of this model to celebrate the opening of Hublot Boutique in Ginza, a unique, famous and iconic neighborhood of Japan,” shared Yohji Yamamoto, Fashion Designer.

@Hublot Released Yohji Yamamoto’s All-Black Big Bang Watch.

Born from duality, the timepiece displays two different time zones through its GMT feature.

At the heart of the timepiece, the Hublot Unico manufacture movement HUB1251 is equipped with a patented proprietary module which enables the second time zone to be updated instantly by a push-button, allowing the local time to be read easily via the conventional main hand of the watch. The time at home is indicated using a second arrow-shaped hour hand, which integrates a day/night indicator and is set using the crown. True to the All Black concept, tone on tone, the signature of Yohji Yamamoto can be discovered at six o’clock.

In 2006, with its All Black collection, Hublot launched a brand-new and pioneering concept: “Invisible visibility”. The all-black design of this new limited edition expresses a philosophy symbolising the very essence of the brand. Literally, the model is completely black; it has a black case made of micro-blasted black ceramic, black hands, a black dial, and a black rubber strap. Even the sapphire crystal is made of smoked sapphire.
