The new Clifton Baumatic Perpetual Calendar timepiece – revealed at SIHH 2019/ Salon international de la haute horlogerie in Geneva (one of the most important trade fair for the luxury watch industry) – features not only Baume & Mercier’s innovative Baumatic calibre but also an added perpetual calendar complication, a calendar valid for many years, usually designed to allow the calculation of the day of the week for a given date in the future. The timepiece features an 18K red gold case and warm white porcelain finish dial.

The new Baume & Mercier Clifton Baumatic Perpetual Calendar is one of Baume et Mercier’s most striking wristwatches to date.

By indicating the date, the day of the week, the month and the phases of the moon while automatically taking into account the variable lengths of months and the leap year cycle, the Baume & Mercier Clifton Baumatic Perpetual Calendar deserves its place among the most complex watches with this complication. It requires no date correction before March 1st, 2100, a non-leap year.

The luxury watchmaking maison chose to combine the Baumatic BM13-1975AC-1 movement with a perpetual calendar module to bring its latest creation to life. The Baumatic self-winding movement offers optimal reliability. In addition to a five-day power reserve, the Clifton Baumatic Perpetual Calendar resists to the main magnetic fields of daily life. This model only requires maintenance service once every seven years rather than three to five years recommended for a traditional watch.

The “warm white” porcelain finish of its dial is enhanced by facetted riveted hour markers and gold-tone hour, minute and seconds hands. Three counters are reserved to the perpetual calendar: the first at 9 o’clock for the day of the week, the second at 12 o’clock for the month and leap year cycle, and the third at 3 o’clock for the perpetual calendar. The blued hands accentuate the calendar functions, and the moon phase indication appears on the dial at 6 o’clock. To ensure better readability, the dial is protected by a domed antiglare sapphire crystal.
