Destination Moon Red – a high-end clock looking like an exciting science fiction rocket from the 1960s

Space isn’t empty, it’s filled by imagination!

L’Epée was founded in 1839, initially to make music box and watch components, by Auguste L’Epée, who set up the
business near Besançon, France. The L’Epée hallmark was that all parts were made entirely by hand. Today, it is the
premiere watch manufacture in Switzerland dedicated to making high-end clocks.

Last year, L’Epée re-imagined Destination Moon, a clock initially launched at Baselworld Watch and Jewelry Fair 2017.

Conceived by MB&F and built by L’Epée 1839, Switzerland’s premier clock maker, Destination Moon is the
quintessential torpedo-shaped rocket of childhood dreams. Hours and minutes are displayed on large diameter
stainless steel discs with stamped numerals. While the legibility of the time display is not in question, focusing on the
time rather than the spectacular, vertically-structured, open movement is likely to require deep concentration.

“Some things are best left to the imagination and MB&F’s Destination Moon does just that. It delivers just enough
engineering for an eight-day clock looking like an exciting science fiction rocket from the 1960s, but with plentiful empty space allowing our imaginations to fill in the details.” – L’Epée 1839.

Developed specifically for Destination Moon, the architecture of L’Epée’s eight-day movement follows the basic design of a real spaceship. Power in a rocket comes from its base; the power for L’Epée Destination Moon clock comes from the oversized winding crown in its base. The management and control systems of a rocket are above the power source; the same holds true for L’Epée Destination Moon luxury table clock, which has a vertical regulator controlling precision below the time display, as well as atime-setting knob at the top of the movement. That eye-catching regulator with its animated balance is protected from cosmic radiation (and curious fingers) by a small panel of virtually invisible mineral glass.

Despite its ethereal openwork construction, at four kilograms (nine pounds) Destination Moon is no lightweight: its
solid landing pods ensure that it will not easily be knocked off course (or knocked over).

Destination Moon’s highlight is Neil, a space-suited figurine forged in solid silver and stainless steel, magnetically
attached to the ladder connecting the crown to the movement.

“Neil is the astronaut flying Destination Moon to exotic worlds, but more importantly, Neil imparts a childlike sense of wonder by putting man into the machine,” said L’Epée 1839 watch manufacture.

Destination Moon clock was manufactured in 5 limited editions of 50 pieces each in black, green, blue and red, plus
palladium (silver).

The audacious MB&F Legacy Machine FlyingT is a capsular jewelry for the women’s wrist

Legacy Machine FlyingT , the first MB&F Machine dedicated to women is a tribute to feminity.

The Legacy Machine FlyingT, the first of MB&F’s three-dimensional horological art pieces dedicated to women. The time indication is placed at the 7 o’clock, with the black or white lacquer dial tilted 50° to face the wearer. The message is subtle but clear – that whoever the owners and wearers of MB&F Legacy Machine FlyingT may be, their time belongs to them and no one else.

MB&F is a one of the pillars of the innovative horological exploration. Every “machine” from MB&F ateliers is a state-of-the-art project that pushes forward the art of horology. Legacy Machine FlyingT, the first MB&F Machine dedicated to women, is presented at this year’s Baselworld Watch & Jewelry fair in Basel, Switzerland – the must-visit destination for all watch enthusiasts.

The convex dome of sapphire crystal houses a curved dial plate, liquidly black with layers of stretched lacquer or glittering with white diamonds. Like a terrarium, Legacy Machine FlyingT makes you discover, collect and grow unforgettable moments.

MB&F Legacy Machine FlyingT ladies watch launches in three editions, all in white gold and set with diamonds: black lacquer dial plate with case set with brilliant-cut diamonds; dial plate and case both fully set with brilliant-cut diamonds, and dial plate and case both fully set with baguette-cut diamonds. Affixed to the top of the upper tourbillon cage is a single large diamond that rotates simultaneously with the flying tourbillon.

The design of Legacy Machine FlyingT takes roots from the maternal influences in Maximilian Büsser’s life.

“I wanted LM FlyingT to possess the epitome of femininity as reflected by the women in my life, particularly my mother. It had to combine supreme elegance with tremendous vitality. The column-like structure of the flying tourbillon was very important to me as I felt very strongly that women form the pillar of humanity. At the same time, there is another layer of meaning coming in from the sun-shaped rotor, which incorporates the element of life-giving, a source of sustenance which we gravitate towards and around.”

“I created MB&F to do what I believe in, making three-dimensional sculptural kinetic art pieces that give the time. I was creating for myself, which is the only way we could have made all these crazy and audacious pieces over the years. But at some point there came a desire to create something for the women in my family. I’ve been surrounded by their influence all my life, so I gave myself the challenge to do something for them,” said Maximilian Büsser, the creator of MB&F art pieces.

At the 7 o’clock position is a dial of black or white lacquer that displays the hours and minutes with a pair of elegant serpentine hands in blued gold. The dial is inclined at a 50° tilt so that the time can be read only by the wearer. On the hidden face of the watch, the automatic winding rotor takes the shape of a three-dimensional red-gold sun with sculpted rays, providing MB&F Legacy Machine FlyingT with four days of power reserve.

In a departure from most modern watch movements, which take a radial and co-planar approach to movement construction, the LM FlyingT engine utilises a vertical and co-axial approach. The cinematic flying tourbillon, which boldly projects beyond the dial-plate of Legacy Machine FlyingT, is a visually stunning example of the rotating escapement and stands in stark contrast to other
flying tourbillons, which usually do not venture past the confines of their surrounding watch dials.
