John Malkovich is the star of the movie you will never see. The film will not be released until 2115.

2115: An Unknown Future. A proactive piece of art that explores the dynamic relationship of the past, the present, and the future.

Louis XII John Malkovich 100 years movie teaser

An original film starring actor John Malkovich envisions Earth one hundred years from now and will not be released until 2115. Directed by Robert Rodriguez100 Years“, the movie you will never see, was inspired by the century of careful craftsmanship and patience it takes to create a decanter of LOUIS XIII Cognac, one of the most luxurious spirits in the world.

To ensure that “100 Years” remains secure until its official premiere on November 18, 2115, one century from now, the film was placed in a state-of-the-art safe which will open automatically in 100 years when the timing is complete. One thousand guests from around the world received an exclusive invitation to give to their descendants to attend the premiere of “100 Years”, on November 18, 2115, at the House of LOUIS XIII in Cognac, France.

A French art de vivre enthusiast and thought-provoking virtuoso, John Malkovich developed an original screenplay for “100
Years”. Styled by costume designer Nina Proctor, Shuya Chang was cast as his on-screen partner, and the two journey through an unknown future achieved by innovative set design and extensive CGI effects.

“When I was first approached I really loved the idea… I mean, in a way I wish all the films I made wouldn’t have been seen for a hundred years. I don’t know how much that would change the way they are regarded,” said John Malkovich.

While this ground-breaking film will not be released until 2115, three teasers have been produced that explore hypothetical visions of what Earth might be like in one hundred years. Each teaser begins with the same dialogue and incorporates the actors, but each presents a different future. One imagines the Earth one hundred years from now overtaken by nature. Another imagines a world ruled by technology, after extraterrestrial exploration when Earth becomes ultra-urbanized and technologically advanced. And the third teaser imagines that humanoid robots have taken control of the earth and humans have to run to escape. They engage viewers to question which vision is closest to tomorrow’s reality. In addition, a short trailer will provide a brief glimpse into the making of and content from the completed “100 Years”.

The film “100 Years” was placed in a custom made safe created in partnership with Fichet-Bauche, a distinguished French company, established in 1825, and a world-leader in secure storage facilities. The safe is a marvel of design, featuring bulletproof glass and a revolutionary timer that records the time and date upon closure and counts down one hundred years. Once closed, the safe will not open until the one hundred year countdown is complete on November 18, 2115. The first luxury safe box in the world that cannot be opened with a code or a key, the safe will open automatically regardless of access to a power source, further guaranteeing that there is no way that the film can be accessed before 2115.

“100 Years” was celebrated on Wednesday, November 18th with an exclusive preview of the film’s trailer at the Sheats Goldstein Mansion in Los Angeles. During the invitation only event, John Malkovich, with LOUIS XIII, ceremoniously placed the film reel into the custom safe and set the timer for the official premiere in November 18th, 2115. This safe will be transported around the world under high-level security for an international tour beginning in Hong Kong on December 11th, before it reaches its final destination at the House of LOUIS XIII in Cognac. When the safe is finally unlocked in one hundred years, guests will be welcomed – including the future cellar master, and a descendant of each guest who received a ticket to the film’s preview in 2015 – to an exclusive premiere at the Domaine du Grollet in Cognac, France, on November 18th, 2115.

Martell France 300: The 300 most exciting French & French-inspired talents across the world

Diane Kruger, Ambassador of Martell Cognac 300th anniversary

This year has been a spectacular and historic one for Martell cognac house. It began with the announcement of Diane Kruger as brand’s Ambassador, along with an incredible celebration at Versailles in May.

Worldwide search led by Martell Cognac and spearheaded by actress Diane Kruger, has identified the 300 most exciting French & French-inspired talents across the worlds of gastronomy, art, mixology, entertainment & fashion.

Michelin-star chef, Pascal Aussignac, fashion designer, Alix Petit and influential mixologist, Nicolas de Soto are today part of the “Martell France 300” project; an ambitious venture paying tribute to the impact of the French ‘Art de Vivre’ lifestyle globally.

The Martell300 celebrations

“This list is a culmination of a search across the world for the most exciting French talents, who embody the essence of French Art de Vivre,” explained Diane Kruger.

“I hope that by exploring this list and learning about these amazing talents, we can learn more about what French Art de Vivre means today, and perhaps live it a little ourselves! Having spent much of my time living in France and working with so many great talents, it is so wonderful to work on a project that gives people some well-deserved recognition and shows how they are having an impact on French culture on an international scale,” added the internationally-acclaimed actress.

The Martell300 celebrations-2015

As part of the Martell France 300 project, Martell conducted global research which reveals that French Art de Vivre is viewed as an integral part of today’s society across the world; over 80% of the 6,521 people surveyed worldwide agreed that French Art de Vivre is an inspiring lifestyle. The French way of life has also had a significant influence globally, with eight in ten respondents (81%) agreeing that French Art de Vivre impacts local cultures across the world, not just in France. The research also reveals a range of emerging trends across five categories that represent the French Art de Vivre lifestyle, and shows the growth of French culture across the world.

“The essence of French Art de Vivre is at the basis of everything we have done this year and the France 300 project proves it is as relevant now as it was 300 hundred years ago, when Louis XIV gathered his court at the Palace of Versailles. The vast array of names on the list from every part of the globe really demonstrates the power of French talent in influencing culture and keeping the French Art de Vivre lifestyle alive across the world,” explained César Giron, CEO and Chairman of Martell.

Fashion: French talent including Alix Petit, designer of the Heimstone brand in Paris who lives in the US, features on the Martell France 300 list thanks to her instinctive, unique fashion designs involving bold fabrics and prints. There is also a wave of French fashion emerging in the Far East with exciting talents such as Linda Mai Phung from Saigon and Manon Tiano Mailleux from Hong Kong, as well as in European capitals like Moscow. Jacques Graf von Polier is using his French craftsmanship to revive the Raketa watch industry in Russia, which is Russia’s oldest and only remaining watch factory.

France is known worldwide for its stylish inhabitants and it seems French Art de Vivre has also had the biggest influence on the chic and elegant nature of fashion across the globe, with over half of respondents globally (56%), and over four in five respondents (84%) in Vietnam in particular, identifying with this.

Mixology: Whilst there are French talent identified in places that are not usually recognized for Mixology such as Morocco, Chile and Thailand, the Martell France 300 list also includes last year’s winner of the most influential French bartender at the Cocktails Spirits show, Nicolas de Soto. He opened New York’s Experimental Cocktail Club, has a strong passion for his trade and offers drinking experiences that have a big focus on flavors in New York.

Arts: Asia is embracing French art with talent recognised in Kyoto, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. Whilst French talents in the European art capitals such as Berlin, London, New York and Los Angeles make it onto the list, Switzerland is continuing to establish itself as an important art market. A cluster of French artistic talent in Switzerland, including Alexandra Midal, a recent curator of the Grand Design Rooms in Geneva, have been handpicked to feature on the Martell France 300 list.
