Sony Alpha 1 is setting a new bar for what creators can accomplish with a single camera. Perfect for sports or any situation where the critical action is over in an instant.

Sony, a global leader in imaging sensor technology and digital imaging, has announced the arrival of the groundbreaking new full-frame mirrorless Alpha 1 camera.

The most technologically advanced, innovative camera that Sony has ever released, the Alpha 1 combines high-resolution and high-speed performance at a level that has never been accomplished in the world of digital cameras. With a brand new 50.1-megapixel full-frame stacked Exmor RS image sensor, up to 120 AF/AE calculations per second, 8K 30p 10-bit 4:2:0 video and much more, the Alpha 1 will allow creators to capture what they’ve never been able to before.

50 MP at 30 fps: The latest Sony technology delivers unprecedented speed and resolution for new creative possibilities and workflow.

“What excites us the most – more than the extensive product features – is Alpha 1’s ability to capture that which has never been captured before. This camera unlocks a new world of creative possibilities, making the previously impossible now possible,” said Yann Salmon Legagneur, Director of Product Marketing, Digital Imaging, Sony Europe in a statement.

The newly developed image sensor is built with integral memory and paired with an upgraded BIONZ XR imaging processing engine, making it capable of shooting 50.1-megapixel images continuously at an astounding 30fps with up to 120 AF/AE calculations per second. The Alpha 1’s shooting capabilities are further enhanced by a 9.44 million dot OLED Quad-XGA electronic viewfinder, with a refresh rate of up to 240 fps, ensuring no black out. Additionally, for the first time in an Alpha series camera, 8K 30p 10-bit 4:2:0 video is available. The Alpha 1 is also capable of 4K 120p / 60p 10-bit 4:2:2 recording and includes S-Cinetone colour. The Sony Alpha 1 is also packed with features that support field professionals with faster workflow, including 3.5 times faster wireless FTP transfer speed and more.

“The headline spec for action photographers is that ability to shoot 50MP stills at 30fps with full AF/AE tracking, albeit with the electronic shutter. Wildlife snappers will also be pleased to see birds added to Sony’s excellent Real-time Eye AF, and we’re looking forward to seeing how that compares to the Canon EOS R5’s excellent system,” commented techradar.com.

The Alpha 1 captures moments that would otherwise be lost thanks to its high-speed performance, providing any photographer the speed they require to capture fast-moving objects. High speed readout from the 50.1-megapixel image sensor and a large buffer memory make it possible to shoot up to 155 full-frame compressed RAW images or 165 full-frame JPEG images at up to 30 frames per second with the electronic shutter while maintaining full AF and AE tracking performance.

According to techradar, Sony Alpha 1, which also answers informally to the name Sony A1, will be available to buy from March. Sony hasn’t revealed a precise date for different territories yet. As you’d expect, the Alpha 1 doesn’t exactly come with an entry-level price tag. It’ll cost $6,500 / £6,500 / AU$10,499 when it’s available from late-February (AU) and March (US and UK).”

4K movies at a high 120 fps frame rate

The α1 supports high frame rate internal 4K movie recording at up to 120 fps, for smooth, expressive slow-motion18 playback at up to 5x. 10-bit 4:2:2 chroma subsampling can be used with Long-GOP or Intra (All-I) compression for outstanding image quality, while the new image sensor and BIONZ XR engine minimize image distortion.

Star Designer Alber Elbaz Debuts His New Democratic Label AZ Factory. The brand represents Richemont’s first foray into launching a fashion label from scratch.

With an innovative meeting of smart design and educational entertainment, AZ Factory opened its doors for business during Haute Couture week. A joint venture startup between Alber Elbaz and Richemont, AZ Factory is smart fashion that cares. These exclusive pieces are designed to offer beautiful, practical and solutions-driven fashion that works for every woman.

“We are on a journey to design beautiful, purposeful, solutions-driven fashion that works for everyone. We are life, not just lifestyle. A place to experiment and try new things, our way.” – Alber Elbaz, AZ Factory Head of Creation.

In a modern spin on the traditional fashion show, AZ Factory unveiled its origins, mission, and first product stories with the Show Fashion. The educational and entertaining digital event was presented during the official Paris Haute Couture 2021 lineup.

AZ chief executive Laurent Malecaze, who leads a team of 30 in Paris’ 14th arrondissement, told Vogue Business the film, launched at Couture  Week, is a new format for fashion. “It’s a film that mixes entertainment, smart humour, education, with videos in our factories, dancing, comedy playlets… Alber gets a great part since he explains the rationale behind his comeback and presents the first three stories.”

“While the industry has been speculating about the possible divestment of the fashion division, or an acquisition of a fashion or accessories brand, AZ Factory is further evidence that chairman Johann Rupert is committed to fashion and to digital,” commented Vogue Business. “With this launch, he’s also testing the power of the coupling of Farfetch and Net-a-Porter, two former rivals that have now teamed up following November’s Richemont-Alibaba-Farfetch mega-deal in China.”

The eagerly awaited fashion concept from legendary designer Alber Elbaz is here.

AZ Factory marks Elbaz’s full return to fashion since exiting Lanvin more than five years ago and is one of the most anticipated ready-to-wear debuts in 2021, commented fashionunited.com. The French designer has kept details of his new venture under wraps, sharing only snippets of what to expect from his brand on social media.

“He posted a business plan, drawn as a tree, on Instagram earlier this month sharing that AZ Factory had plans to showcase tailored jackets, jeans, raincoats, sunglasses, sneakers, jewellery, 3D bags, cosmetics, swimwear and black dresses,” added fashionunited.com.

With AZ Factory’s first product story, MyBody, Alber re-imagined the little black dress for today. The MyBody dresses, tops, and leggings are made with AnatoKnit, a specially engineered knitwear that gently shapes the silhouette while providing support and comfort.

The inspiration for the second product story, Switchwear, came from the desire to give the gift of time. Switchwear promises a quick look transformation, going from leisurewear to fabulous in under one minute with bodysuits, hoodies, pyjamas and glam duchesse add-ons made from recycled yarn.

The third product story, SuperTech-SuperChic, takes hi-tech to high-fashion. Eco-dyed nylon microfiber fabrics traditionally used in activewear are now transformed into seasonless fashion pieces inspired by couture.

AZ Factory continued with Pointy Sneaks, combining the comfort of a sneaker with the elongating visual effect of a pointy-toe pump; modular and playful jewelry; as well as special edition Valentine’s and Chinese New Year separates.

We are really excited to create a digital luxury house that is based on design, innovation, and fun storytelling. It is only fitting that we have also chosen to go to market on two leading platforms of the digital luxury world, FARFETCH and NET-A-PORTER. – Laurent Malecaze, CEO.

AZ Factory also announced two special experiences immediately following its launch: a live streaming event The Talk Show with Alber Elbaz & Friends with NET-A-PORTER, as well as an immersive virtual experience, the AZ Factory World Tour, now open on FARFETCH.

As a special gift to the Alber & Amigos community, the MyBody product story is amplified by a digital experience using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, unlocking an insider’s look at the stories behind the creations, as well as interactive ways to engage with the products and the AZ Factory team.

MyBody is available today on azfactory.com, FARFETCH, and NET-A-PORTER, starting at 210€. Switchwear and SuperTech SuperChic will be commercially available later this spring.

The wedding cortege: CHANEL Spring-Summer 2021 Haute Couture

CHANEL Spring-Summer 2021 Haute Couture Show – a family gathering with socially distanced guests.

Chanel transformed Grand Palais Paris into a country wedding in the South of France. A lighthearted and elegant spirit animated
the CHANEL Spring-Summer 2021 Haute Couture collection imagined by Virginie Viard. The film of the show was directed by photographer, filmmaker and graphic designer Anton Corbijn.

A joyous occasion calls for luminous colours — a lace ensemble with flower-embroidered cuffs opened the CHANEL Spring-Summer 2021 Haute Couture show. The movement of ruffles on a pink lace dress evokes the spirit of summer evening parties. The tweed trouser suit is king, alongside a dress in black silk chiffon revealing a play of transparency, accompanied by a little black organza dress swathed in sequin-embroidered polka dot tulle. The nonchalant allure is further inspired by a jacket embroidered with silver sequins and wide-cut tweed trousers.

The masculine-feminine spirit of a tweed trouser suit is emphasized with a crown of flowers. Beads and strass embroideries as always evoke the emblematic quilted motif of the Chanel House. The voluminous aqua silk tulle skirt is worn with an embroidered vest.

“The silhouettes might be simple—sweaters or sleeveless vests worn with high-waisted pants, skinny cardigan jackets and liquid satin shirts with full romantic ballet skirts—but the beauty is in the detail,” commented Vogue. “This is the haute couture, after all, and the sort of garments we may have become familiar with in our work-from-home lives have actually been encrusted with superb embroideries from the houses of Cécile Henri, Hurel, Montex, Emmanuelle Vernoux, and Lesage, or made from custom, hand-painted lace by Solstiss, or scattered with artificial blossoms by Lemarié,” added Vogue.

Riding side-saddle on a horse, ‘la mariée’ appeared in an ecru satin crêpe wedding dress embroidered by Lesage with rhinestone-and pearl butterflies.

“Viard attempts to capture the familial spirit of Chanel with this collection. Her focus on oversized petticoats, ruffled boleros, and fitted vests aim to give the clothes a liberating feeling, as the pieces are perfect for dancing on a warm summer evening,” commented lofficielusa.com
