Smart decanters with their access to an exclusive world of privileges are becoming a norm in the realm of premium spirits. Jim Beam is selling a smart decanter that pours whiskey on command. Voiced by 7th Generation Master Distiller Fred Noe, the decanter-turned virtual voice assistant includes a sleek compartment for bourbon storage and voice command capabilities. The iSommelier’s Smart Decanter makes every wine taste perfect in seconds. An hour in a traditional decanter is reduced to a single minute with iSommelier.

In February 2019, Louis XIII cognac will step into the future by integrating NFC technology into its Smart Decanter. Each high-end decanter will directly connect cognac enthusiasts to the Louis XIII Society, a private club where members can enjoy exclusive content, unique experiences and personalized services through their smartphones.

A SMALL NFC CHIP INTEGRATED IN THE CORK STOPPER OF THE Louis XIII DECANTER.

After removing the seal, fans will simply have to tap & scan their NFC-enabled smartphones on the cork stopper to access the Louis XIII Society landing page to create or log into their account. The decanter number will then be automatically registered.

Thanks to this small NFC chip, Louis XIII clients will get facilitated access to all the advantages of the Louis XIII Society. This private club offers bespoke services such as customized decanter engraving, pre-releases of limited editions, contact with a Louis XIII Personal Advisor for private tastings and ultimate experiences, and an invitation to network with Louis XIII Cognac
connoisseurs registered all over the world. In addition, the Louis XIII Smart Decanter will bring added services to clients allowing them to customize gifting messages that will appear when recipients scan their decanter.

NFC enables simple, rapid, intuitive and secure communication between two electronic objects. A mature and robust technology which has been growing in the past 20 years being used mainly by bank cards, biometric passports and travel tickets – until now. Today, with the introduction of contactless payment, connected wearables and the Internet of Things, NFC
technology is reinventing the way we experience life.

This innovation will be launched globally starting February 2019 and will be deployed all over the world the following months.

LOUIS XIII The Legacy is a prized possession available to few in the world

The House of Rémy Martin achieved an excellent performance in the first half, with organic growth of 15.4%, through increased sales in all regions, announced the company headquartered in the town of Cognac, in the department of Charente, France. In Asia Pacific, Greater China confirmed strong momentum, while Singapore is making robust headway, and Japan returned to positive growth. The Americas are benefiting from solid demand for high-end cognac, and the EMEA region is driven by a new phase of expansion in Africa, as well as sustained growth in Russia. Travel Retail started the year strong, notably thanks to clear improvement in high-end cognac trends.

LOUIS XIII The Legacy cognac

Creativity within the House of Rémy Martin continued in the first half of the year. Following the launch of its limited edition XO Cannes 2017, available exclusively in Travel Retail, Rémy Martin launched the second edition of Carte Blanche à Baptiste Loiseau, an exclusive series of 9,650 bottles. Meanwhile, LOUIS XIII launched the limited edition The Legacy, 500 crystal magnum decanters signed by four generations of cellar masters.

Louis XIII cognac is produced by the House of Rémy Martin. The House was founded in 1724 by Rémy Martin, who descended from wine makers from Charente.

LOUIS XIII The Legacy proudly unites four LOUIS XIII Cellar Masters around a rare and precious decanter: personally and individually hand-signed, each fine crystal magnum stands as a monument to the savoir- faire they have passed on and shared.

This is the only time these four cellar masters will be brought together in a hand-signed testament to their craft. A very special limited edition to collect and treasure, LOUIS XIII The Legacy is a prized possession available to few in the world in just 500 decanters, no two of which are alike. Housed in an elegant coffret made of fine Italian calfskin leather and bearing a numbered plaque, each crystal magnum is personally and directly signed by each cellar master. Just as the cellar masters preserve the art and savoir-faire of their predecessors, so too this very special edition preserves their legacy.

“When I completed my very first final blend of LOUIS XIII, I measured the full responsibility in my hands. You find yourself alone with hundreds of eaux-de-vie, it’s a very powerful moment,” explained cellar master Pierrette Trichet.

“We feel great humility in our work, the respect that comes with passing the legacy on. My final decision as Cellar Master will be to select the cellar master to succeed me,” added cellar master Baptiste Loiseau.

“The pop-up further demonstrates the long-standing relationship between Harrods and LOUIS XIII Cognac. This innovative boutique offers the ultimate LOUIS XIII retail experience in an environment designed to accommodate Harrods discerning customers,” said Nick Fleming, Spirits Buyer at Harrods.

Since its origins in 1874, each generation of cellar master selects from LOUIS XIII cellars the oldest and most precious eaux-de-vie for LOUIS XIII. Today, Cellar Master Baptiste Loiseau is setting aside the finest eaux-de-vie, some of which will be selected for the LOUIS XIII blend in 100 years. LOUIS XIII is an exquisite blend of up to 1,200 eaux-de-vie sourced 100% from Grande Champagne, the most prized area in the Cognac region in France. The legendary decanters have been made from fine crystal for generations, mouth- blown by some of the most skilled master craftsmen. LOUIS XIII features exceptional aromas evoking myrrh, honey, dried roses, plum, honeysuckle, cigar box, leather, figs and passion fruit.
