The international design world celebrated the best designs of the year: On 15 March 2019, a glamorous award ceremony was held to honor the winners of the iF DESIGN AWARD 2019. Since 1954, the iF DESIGN AWARD has been recognized as an arbiter of quality for exceptional design.

The iF design award night – the design event of the year – attracted more than 2,000 guests from 42 countries to BMW Welt in Munich.

Exceptional design award winners were included in the program: seven companies who were “there from the start” were honored for their successful participation in the iF DESIGN AWARD from 1954 to the present day.

This year’s iF design award night, which has now become one of the most important design events in the world, felt like a Who’s Who of design. More than 2,000 guests from 42 countries came together at BMW Welt in Munich on 15 March 2019 to celebrate the winners of the iF DESIGN AWARD 2019.

Each year the iF International Forum Design GmbH (Hannover) presents this internationally renowned recognition of good design. An independent jury of 67 experts from 20 countries met in Hamburg in January to choose the winners of the coveted iF DESIGN AWARD 2019 and honored the 66 best works with the iF gold award 2019. The winners were presented with the golden iF sculpture on stage by iF CEO Ralph Wiegmann.

Three iF Design Awards 2019 go to Ferrari models

Ferrari Portofino, the 488 Pista, and Ferrari SP38 receive the iF Design Award 2019.

The Ferrari Monza SP1 received the most prestigious Gold Award at the iF Design Awards 2019 ceremony held in Munich today. In presenting the accolade, the jury praised the minimalist and elegant line of this, the first ‘Icona’ model, a new concept of special limited-series cars from Ferrari.

The Ferrari Monza SP1, like its two-seater sister SP2 model, offers a reinterpretation of the 1950s barchetta with a “classic perfection that also hints at the future”, as mentioned in the jurors’ motivation for the award. The result is a single-seater road car that stands out because of its unique asymmetric layout, the ‘monolithic’ profile of the bodywork and the purity of its
highly iconic design.

In Munich, Ferrari received three more iF Design Awards: for the Ferrari Portofino, the 488 Pista and the one-off SP38. “These awards are further recognition of the continuous research carried out by the Ferrari Styling Centre to create increasingly innovative design solutions across Ferrari’s production, in a perfect symbiosis between aesthetics and technology,” said Ferrari in a statement.

iF design exhibition in Hamburg
The award-winning entries will be shown in the iF design exhibition Hamburg, where more than 1,500 square meters of exhibition space will be divided into three sub-exhibitions, each with different categories.

iF award winners “there from the start”
Exceptional design award winners were included in the program: The companies Braun, Jungheinrich, Rosenthal, MAN Truck & Bus, WMF Group, Sartorius, and SIEMENS were honored for their continual and successful participation in the iF DESIGN AWARD from 1954 to the present day. These companies have thus written design history, as they have taken on one of the hardest challenges of good design – longevity.
