Chanel J12·20 celebrates 20th anniversary with highly resistant ceramic and rhodium-plated decor

 

 

Always in motion, Chanel J12 is transformed and reinvented without ever losing its identity. The luxury watch synonymous with highly resistant ceramic has travelled through time to turn 20 with all the boldness that built its legendary status.

Inspired by the refined silhouettes of racing yachts from America’s Cup, Chanel J12 watch created two decades ago is an icon of 21st-century watchmaking. From the outset, the J12 transformed ceramic into a precious material and rewrote two hundred years of history to redefine the standards of feminine watchmaking. J12 is one of the most recognizable ceramic watches. The ceramic case and bracelet have become an emblematic design and a bestseller for the French luxury Maison.

Jacques Helleu, the artistic director of CHANEL at the time, created this piece to fulfill his own desires. He wanted a beautiful yet
different watch. He did not simply design a watch, he created a legend.

CHANEL has been awarded a prize in the Ladies category at the 2019 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève for the J12 Calibre 12.1 watch. These two decades since its inception, the J12 watch has been reinvented while preserving its identity. For even more graphic impact, the numerals are redesigned in ceramic. The enhanced dial is now larger, the bezel and crown more refined. The watch features the Calibre 12.1, a self-winding movement manufactured exclusively for CHANEL.

The J12 is turning 20 with a limited-edition anniversary model in white ceramic. 2020 pieces, marked with the emblems of  CHANEL. To discover the J12 collection only in a Chanel boutique.

For its 20th anniversary, Chanel J12·20 is playful and even more creative. Chanel watch division took twenty symbols and references from the CHANEL luxury house. A bottle of N°5 perfume, a Chanel 2.55 bag, a camellia, and a tweed jacket are some of the icons found on the dial of the anniversary J12∙20 timepiece.Punctuated with 12 diamonds, these polished rhodium-plated motifs are found on the limited-edition bezel and dial. This anniversary edition is limited to 2020 pieces, and also available in an Haute Horlogerie
enameled version, numbered and limited to 5 pieces.
