Celeblueation by Renato Balestra at the Fondazione Franco Zeffirelli

 

The anthological exhibition of 300 sketches, designs, and garments of the Italian fashion designer Renato Balestra, personally chosen by the international couturier who has dressed queens, princesses, ladies and international celebrities with elegance, will remain open until the 2nd of February at the Fondazione Franco Zeffirelli in Florence.

“Celeblueation” title was chosen to give emphasis on a special shade of blue, which is the hallmark of Balestra, the Italian fashion designer born May 3, 1924.

The fashion exhibition recounts the history of the legend, figure, and eclectic artist behind the Italian fashion house who has managed to keep family tradition alive, by combining it with a strong managerial structure.

The Music Room of the Zeffirelli Foundation offers an unprecedented selection of the Renato Balestra’s debut era when the fashion designer adopted a pictorial expression to give life to his creations.

The theatrical section is dedicated to the opera costumes designed by Renato Balestra.

Among the works on show, the designs created for famous theatrical productions like Rossini’s Cinderella, Strauss’s Knight of the Rose, Puccini’s Turandot, and many others.
