LVMH Creates “L’Institut des Metiers d’Excellence”

Luxury giant LVMH announced the creation of “L’Institut des Métiers d’Excellence” (IME), a program of professional training that will allow the LVMH Group to ensure the transmission of its savoir-faire while enhancing the different métiers in the fields of craftsmanship and creation among young generations. Starting in September, the IME will enable accredited degrees, through paid apprenticeships within the Maisons of the Group.

“The LVMH “Institut des Métiers d’Excellence” underlines the key role of apprenticeships, supervisors and tutors in the transmission of the knowledge and development of savoir-faire. Our métiers are mastered over the long term: all employees within the Group are committed to the preservation and enrichment of its heritage, and are therefore proud to contribute to this original initiative” said Chantal Gaemperle, Group Executive Vice President, Human Resources and Synergies.

“The training programs of the Institute have been developed in collaboration with outstanding educational partners”, said LVMH. Last April, LVMH signed a partnership with the renowned Paris Jewelry School (BJOP) in order to establish an LVMH class within the professional aptitude certificate (CAP) in « Jewelry Arts and Techniques ». Chaumet and Louis Vuitton will welcome the first selected students as part of the program this year.

In addition, the Group announces the signature of a new partnership with the School of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne (ECSCP) to launch the first CAP class in « Dressmaking ». The students will be under the guidance of Dior Couture and Givenchy starting next fall. LVMH also intends to sign other partnerships in the fields of leather goods, visual merchandising and sales.

For each training program, the students will benefit from an educational curriculum combining theoretical and practical training at a school, as well as practical experience within the workshops of the Group’s Maisons. Students of the Initiative will also have the opportunity to interact with master craftsmen and designers of LVMH.
