Paramount enters luxury hospitality business


American film and television production & distribution company Paramount plans to create up to 50 hotels and resorts themed around Hollywood and California. The luxury hotels will be focused on ‘elements of the California lifestyle’.

The hotels of one of the leading companies in the history of cinema will be centered around the art of cinema, technology, theaters and private screenings. First ocations are not yet certain, but according to Bloomberg, the Paramount hospitality chain will expand to Brazil, UK, Caribbean, Russia, Qatar, Oman, South Africa and Indonesia.

Founded in 1912 (as Famous Players Studios), Paramount is the 3rd oldest existing film studio in the world behind Universal Studios & Gaumont Pictures; it is also the last major film studio still headquartered in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles. Paramount is consistently ranked as one of the largest movie studios.

The distinctively pyramidal Paramount mountain has been the company’s logo since its inception and is the oldest surviving Hollywood film logo.
