Lighting interplays, airy forms, global crossovers and a great desire for lightness: these are just some of the suggestions that have characterized the Missoni Women’s Summer 2015 collection.
Missoni is a family business – as its spring/summer 2015 show in Milan demonstrated. Clan members were spotted wandering around the show space before it began, dogs and babies in tow, while editors such as Anna Wintour and Carine Roitfeld took their seats.
The second generation designing for the brand, stripes are arguably in Angela Missoni’s DNA. The pattern that Missoni has made its own for six decades was there from the start. Vertical, horizontal and chevron stripes were also used across delicate knit pieces.
The influence of the Tate Modern’s blockbuster Matisse exhibition continued, and a familiar bohemian spirit ran through the collection. The colour palette, from delicate pink and deep purple to Aegean blue, could have come straight from an artist’s wheel.
