The American Western Watch Collection – the ultimate merger of fine Swiss watchmaking and iconic Ralph Lauren style
“I think the spirit of Western style has a rugged elegance and authenticity that people relate to. There’s both a sensibility and honesty that gives it an enduring appeal.” – Ralph Lauren
Ralph Lauren introduces The American Western Watch Collection – a collection inspired by Ralph Lauren’s love of the American West.
In celebration of his 50th anniversary, Ralph Lauren introduces The American Western Watch Collection, inspired by Ralph Lauren’s longtime love of the American West. With the American Western Watch Collection, Ralph Lauren translates his love of vintage concho and rodeo belts into heirloom timepieces. The limited-edition series of six hand-engraved styles includes The American Western Pocket Watch, in sterling silver and 18K gold.
Each silhouette embodies a different interpretation of the belts he has been wearing and working into his design process since the mid-1970s—capturing an authentic spirit and individual character inspired by mystique of the West, its traditions of handcraft and its uniquely American story.
The sterling silver Ralph Lauren American Western Skeleton Watch, which combines meticulous hand engraving with the finest Swiss watchmaking, is available with interchangeable hand-tooled straps.
The vachetta leather straps of The American Western Watch Collection were meticulously hand-tooled by an artisan in El Paso, Texas. From there, they were sent to Italy for hand-burnishing and waxing before finally being assembled by a master artisan in Belgium.
A refined shape evocative of the ’30s and ’40s, the cushion case of the American Western Cushion Watch measures 42 mm by 10.6 mm and is powered by a mechanical movement made by Piaget for Ralph Lauren. The watch is accented with a vintage-inspired off-white dial hand-printed with Roman and Arabic numerals, a combination distinctive to the Ralph Lauren brand, and completed with Breguet-style hands.
The self-winding caliber RL514 of the American Western Cushion Watch runs at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, featuring 26 jewels with an approximate 40-hour power reserve. The movement is decorated with vertical “Côtes de Genève” stripes and circular graining known as Perlage.
