Height Cuisine: Wine in the Sky

It is a fact that your senses react differently to food at 35,000 feet. Wine advisor, Andy Sparrow takes a few independent journalists (Sam Wylie-Harris and Craig Butcher) on a wine tasting journey aboard a British Airlines plane. They started at Heathrow Terminal 5 and ended on board one of BA flights.

“Today is al about showing how wine appears to change in the air. And the trick really is that the wine does not change at all. But you do. If you taste a glass of wine immediately after take-off on a Los Angeles flight and then taste the same wine from a fresh bottle shortly before landing ten and a half – eleven hours later there is a big, big difference in terms your respond to it,” says Andy Sparrow.
