Porsche Achieves Record-Breaking Sale in Anniversary Year: The Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe.

In a remarkable feat during its anniversary year, Porsche has set a new record with the sale of a unique vehicle built by Porsche Classic for the Porsche Club of America (PCA). This exceptional Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe, meticulously restored over two and a half years, fetched an impressive price tag of 1.2 million US dollars. The auction took place at the Porsche Experience Center Atlanta, USA, as part of the 75th anniversary celebration of Porsche Cars North America.

The restoration project involved transforming a used 911 Carrera (Type 996) from 1998 into a masterpiece of automotive craftsmanship. Porsche Classic, known for their expertise in preserving and restoring classic Porsche vehicles, spared no effort in bringing this iconic sports car back to its former glory. The spirit of the Porsche “Sonderwunsch” program, which allows customers to customize their Porsche to their preferences, was embraced during the restoration process.

Inspiration for the project was drawn from the renowned 911 Sport Classic (997) launched in 2009. This special edition model, limited to 250 units, was not available in the United States. Additionally, elements from the yet-to-be-revealed 911 Sport Classic (992) were incorporated, including the Sport Gray Metallic exterior color and the seat center panels featuring braided leather in a Pepita houndstooth pattern. The result was a unique fusion of classic and modern design cues, showcasing the possibilities of the new Porsche Classic “Sonderwunsch” program.

The Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe boasts several exterior highlights that distinguish it from its counterparts. Its Sport Grey Metallic paintwork is accentuated by light grey and blue detailing, while the double-dome roof and Fuchs rims harken back to the brand’s iconic styling. The fixed rear spoiler, reminiscent of the ducktail style seen on the legendary 911 Carrera RS 2.7 from 1972, adds a touch of classic charm. Many exterior and interior details have been customized with PCA’s signature Club Blue, showcasing the close collaboration between Porsche Classic and the PCA.

Underneath the surface, the vehicle has undergone significant technical enhancements. The powertrain, sourced from the second-generation 996 GT3, delivers an impressive 280 kW (381 PS) from its 3.6-liter engine. The chassis and brakes have also been upgraded to GT3 specifications, further enhancing the vehicle’s performance capabilities.

The successful sale of the Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe demonstrates the enduring appeal and value of classic Porsche vehicles. It also exemplifies the dedication of Porsche Classic to preserving the brand’s heritage and offering unique automotive experiences to enthusiasts. This milestone achievement reinforces Porsche’s position as a leader in the luxury sports car market and highlights the strong bond between Porsche and its devoted community of collectors and enthusiasts.

As Porsche continues to celebrate its anniversary year, this extraordinary auction result serves as a testament to the timeless allure of Porsche vehicles and the passion they ignite in admirers worldwide.
