Colour becomes a perfume: La Collection Privée Dior Gris Montaigne

Christian Dior “La Collection Privée” new exclusive fragrance

Dior’s “Collection Privée“, a line of precious fragrances crafted from rare raw materials, has been enriched with a new chypre scent for women, named Gris Montaigne, evoking the address where everything started, the gray of the walls, the medallion
-backed chairs, and the notes of the very first Dior’s perfume.

«The idea was to create a perfume in homage to the historic boutique on Avenue Montaigne,” explains François Demachy, the house’s perfumer-creator, the nose behind this fragrance featuring Turkish Rose, Jasmine Sambac, Indonesian patchouli, Calabrian bergamot, amber, cedar, sandalwood, Macedonian moss, and an exclusive blueish grey colour. The colour of the perfume was given in tribute to Dior’s signature “Gris” shade, present at Dior since 1947.

Each of the ‘Collection Privée’ perfumes draws its inspiration from the heritage of the house of Dior,” added Demachy.

According to the couturier’s Little Dictionary of Fashion, gray and pink hues remained his two favorite colors of choice in couture. Pink, like the walls of the Dior family house at Granville, in Normandy. Gray, like the cliffs rising above the sea and on which the house was built.

For Dior, “Gray” was the most convenient, useful and elegant neutral color, that now can be even worn directly on the skin:
Top note: ESSENCE OF CALABRIAN BERGAMOT;
Heart note: ABSOLUTE OF DAMASK ROSE;
Base note: ABSOLUTE OF MACEDONIAN MOSS.
