Louis Vuitton showcases second Cruise collection in Palm Springs

The Bob and Dolores Hope Estate Palm Springs-

Louis Vuitton’s second Cruise collection will be unveiled in the City of Palm Springs at The Bob and Dolores Hope Estate on May 6th. The show will take place on Wednesday evening in the Palm Springs landmark, designed by the great modernist architect John Lautner. The more than 400 guests of the designer including clients, high-level media and A-list celebrities, will call Palm Springs home for several days leading up to and following the fashion show.

“It’s fantastic business for our city in May and a real testament to the fact that Palm Springs is ultra-cool again thanks to a wonderful array of modernist architecture and a close association with the Hollywood celebrities who live and play here. Not to mention we have an abundance of year-round sunshine and a relaxed desert lifestyle that all the world craves,” said Mary Jo Ginther, Director of the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism, who noted Louis Vuitton is also planning several fashion magazine photo shoots for their Resort collection at more than a dozen hotel properties throughout Palm Springs.

Perched in the Southridge Mountains overlooking Palm Springs, this iconic and futuristic estate is hosting a fashion show for the first time in its history. Considered as the largest private estate in Palm Springs, it was designed for Bob and Dolores Hope, by John Lautner, a renowned architect whose work in Southern California is celebrated for its technical prowess and spectacular, sensual and progressive lines.

A legend among Palm Springs estates, it is also famous for its major architectural interest, so characteristic of Desert Modernism. The estate was built to resemble a volcano, with three visor-like arches and an undulating concrete roof, a hole at its center opening a courtyard to the sky.
