The return of the legend: Montblanc Heritage Egyptomania – A Revival of Ancient Egyptian Treasures Limited Edition.

Fueled by archaeological adventures of the 1920s, ancient Egypt captured the world’s imagination back in the day and continues to do so today. The new Montblanc Heritage collection consists of two editions inspired by the vintage Montblanc fountain pen designs and paying homage to the era of Egyptomania.

The new Montblanc Heritage Egyptomania collection brings back one of its own treasures from the past. The so-called Montblanc “Egyptian Fountain Pen” from the 1920s, featuring an elegant octagonal shape and Egyptian style engravings, is reimagined for today’s writing enthusiasts.

Sacred treasures: The new Montblanc Heritage Egyptomania collection reawakens the spirit of exploration

“Seduced by the allure and mystery of the land of the pharaohs, early 20th century explorers set out on expeditions to uncover secret treasures,” explained Montblanc. “The discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb and the mysteries inside it created one of the biggest cultural events of the 20th century. A new era of Egyptomania has dawned influencing every part of the arts and intellectual life – from the Art Deco movement through films and literature to unique writing instruments.”

Reminiscent of the richly decorated King Tutankhamun’s sarcophagus, the luxury writing instrument is inspired by objects found in his tomb, including the gold hunting knife sheath. The carnelian scarab beetle on the cap entails a special opening mechanism. The scarab, embossed on the 14K gold nib is a sacred ancient Egyptian animal and a symbol of rebirth. The triangular heart-hole above the scarab offers a softer writing style, reminiscent of historical Montblanc pens. The solid gold heritage nib features a crook and flail design – a symbol for the divine authority of the kings and queens of Egypt – and is set with a diamond. The turquoise scarab beetle opening mechanism, decorated with carnelian, opens to reveal the writing instrument.

Created in partnership with an expert Egyptologist, the octagonal precious resin cap of the new Montblanc Heritage Egyptomania writing
instrument is embellished with authentic hieroglyphs that translate as “white stone mountain”, denoting Montblanc.

The most expensive item in the collection is the Montblanc Heritage Egyptomania Doué Pen (€1.110,00). The barrel of the Doué is inscribed with hieroglyphs from the ancient “Book of the Dead” – one of the most important Egyptology discoveries that contains magic spells intended to assist while journeying through the underworld to access the afterlife. The 14K gold nib on the fountain pen features an embossed scarab and a triangular heart-hole.

The Montblanc Heritage Egyptomania Edition is made up of two editions, each available as a fountain pen, ballpoint pen and rollerball pen. The collection includes a notebook. The Notebook #146 Heritage Egyptomania cover is made of calfskin leather with digital print pattern. All Fine Stationery products are manufactured in Italy, crafted with Saffiano leather and high-quality paper.
