For the fourth consecutive year, LVMH is offering 30 startups from around the world a chance to showcase their solutions in the LVMH Luxury Lab during the Viva Technology show, set for June 11-13, 2020 in Paris. The 30 startups selected will compete for the LVMH Innovation Award, which recognizes the best idea for Crafting the Customer Experience of Tomorrow. The winner will receive a full year of mentoring at La Maison des Startups LVMH, the Group’s incubator.

With less than a month to go until the challenge platform closes, LVMH invited comedian Paul Taylor to pitch his latest idea to Ian Rogers, LVMH Chief Digital Officer…

LVMH also announced the members of the panel of Experts and the timeline for the 7th edition of the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers.

After its sixth successful edition, which awarded South African designer Thebe Magugu and Israeli designer Hed Mayner, the seventh edition of the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers revealed the list of its 2020 committee of Experts.

This year, 9 new fashion and luxury professionals are joining the committee composed of 59 international Experts. New addition to the panel Gigi Hadid does us the honor of being the Showroom Ambassador for the semi-final of the 2020 LVMH Prize.

The semi-final of the Prize will be held in Paris, on Thursday, February 27th and Friday, February 28th at the LVMH Headquarters on 22 avenue Montaigne. The committee of international Experts will select, amongst the 20 semi-finalists, the 8 designers who will participate in the Prize Finale on June 5, 2020 at the Louis Vuitton Foundation.

The new 2020 Experts are:

  • Sinéad Burke, Activist;
  • Ronnie Cooke Newhouse, Artistic director;
  • Caroline Daur, Digital entrepreneur;
  • Jo Ellison, “How to Spend It” Editor-in-chief;
  • Leaf Greener, Artistic consultant and writer;
  • Gigi Hadid, Model and Philanthropist;
  • Ibrahim Kamara, Stylist and fashion editor at large, i-D;
  • Natalie Kingham, Fashion and buying director at Matches Fashion;
  • Lauren Santo Domingo, Co-founder & chief brand officer Moda Operandi.

The winner of the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers receives €300,000 and benefits from one year of tailor-made mentorship from a specially dedicated LVMH team whose expertise covers many fields, such as intellectual property, sourcing, production, distribution, image, communication, marketing, and sustainable development.

The Karl Lagerfeld Prize also rewards a young designer with €150,000 and allows her or him to benefit from a year of mentoring.

Calling all startups: apply today for a spot in the 2019 LVMH Luxury Lab during the 2019 edition of Viva Technology next May 16, 17 and 18. The LVMH Innovation Award winner will receive personalized support for an entire year to drive its growth. All the finalists get exceptional exposure at the center of one of the world’s premier rendezvous for innovation.

The fourth edition of Viva Technology is set for May 16-18 in Paris. LVMH will once again be center stage at the event as a Platinum Partner. A good many of the Group’s Maisons will be on hand at the LVMH stand to showcase their latest innovations. They will be joined by some 30 luxury-related startups from around the world whose ideas and solutions are relevant to the luxury industry and propose ways to meet the challenge of “Crafting the customer experience of tomorrow”.

To shortlist startups who will be invited to Viva Technology, LVMH has announced a call for applicants for its third Innovation Award. The award was launched with a highly successful first edition in 2017 and is open to all startups created less than ten years ago with a valuation of under $100 million, fewer than 100 employees and solutions that address the needs of the LVMH Group and its Maisons. Startups that meet these criteria are invited to apply directly on the LVMH Innovation Award website.

Through this award the LVMH Group actively supports young creative talents and stimulates new ideas by accelerating their growth and market traction. Previous winners of the LVMH Innovation Award were the startups Heuritech (deep learning) in 2017, followed by Oyst (e-commerce solution), VeChain (block chain) and Kronos Care (post-purchase experience) in 2018. 2017 LVMH Innovation Award to give startups the opportunity to make the luxury sector evolve

In conjunction with the second edition of the Viva Technology 2017, LVMH Luxury Group will present an award to a start-up from the luxury-related sector. LVMH will open the doors to Luxury Lab again this year and engage even more deeply with the start-up ecosystem by launching the LVMH Innovation Award, which will recognize a start-up from France or another country.

The 2016 Viva Technology show drew over 45,000 participants and 5,000 start-ups. LVMH created the Luxury Lab for the event, a 500-square-meter space dedicated entirely to the luxury industry that welcomed around 40 start-ups.

The second edition of Viva Technology, the global rendezvous for game-changing digital transformation, is set for June 15-17, 2017 in Paris. This high-profile event – of which LVMH is a partner – provides an opportunity for leading businesses to engage with and build strong relationships with start-ups to help them grow.

“Support for young businesses is a tremendous driver for excellence across LVMH and a major source of innovation that contributes to the success of our Maisons,” noted Bernard Arnault, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of LVMH.

The LVMH Innovation Award is open to any company created less than 5 years ago with a valuation of less than $100 million and whose business has a connection with LVMH Group sectors. Candidates are invited to apply online from 21 February to 31 March on the “LVMH Innovation Award” page of Viva Technology website.

A committee of experts representing LVMH Maisons, start-ups and investors will select a shortlist of 32 start-ups invited to be part of the LVMH Lab during the three-day event, giving them a chance to pitch their ideas and model to a broad audience. One of them will receive the first LVMH Innovation Award at the close of Viva Technology, and will meet LVMH Group teams in charge of private equity investments and discuss potential relationship with the Group and its Luxury Maisons.

Viva Technology offered the chance to test out worldwide exclusives presented in the entertainment world. Visitors attended meetings with digital gaming players (YouTubers, pro gamers, etc.), they have watched virtual performances, competed in video game battles (League of Legends with PMU), took part in the augmented reality racing game INGRESS, and appreciate a masterpiece through digital immersion. And even more: robot races, drone races, Roller Blaster, etc. In addition, kids had the chance to take part in workshops designed especially for them.

The event recorded over 45,000 visitors in 3 days, over 10 million euros distributed to startups, and 300 seminars with the world’s biggest names in tech. Viva Technology Paris will be back in 2017.

How startups and digital innovation can drive the luxury sector forward through enhancing and transforming key areas such as product conception and customer experience? LVMH’s Luxury Lab at 2016 Viva Technology Paris (30 June – 2nd July) was trying to respond to this challenge.

A melting pot for the startup ecosystem and leaders of the global economy, Viva Technology offers one of the world’s largest coworking spaces organized around 17 industry-focused Labs sponsored by industry leaders. 50 startups were selected and supported by each partner to help develop innovative solutions.

A partner of Viva Technology, luxury group LVMH hosted the Luxury Lab, a 500-square- meter space dedicated entirely to the luxury industry. Conceived as a convivial, open space, the Lab welcomed some 50 innovative start-ups from the luxury sector, to discover here : LVMH Luxury Lab startups.

After an introduction by Ian Rogers, Chief Digital Officer of LVMH, these startups presented new solutions that address the daily challenges of luxury businesses, alternating pitch sessions and demonstrations at the Lab throughout the three days.

Start-ups at the Luxury Lab include Dymant, which creates “ultra-custom” leather goods crafted by expert artisans; Energysquare, which has created a wireless device charging pad; and Memomi, a connected digital mirror that provides a 360° view of a look in virtual fitting rooms.

Viva Technology conferences featured several speakers from LVMH and its Houses as well. Rachel Marouani, CEO of Fred, will talk about how the digital transformation is reshaping the world of luxury products, while Laurent Boillot, President and CEO of Guerlain and Cha Ling, will show how a major luxury group can innovate in full start-up mode. Nowness Managing Director Daniel Coutinho will share insights into new storytelling models in e-commerce, and Ian Rogers will talk with Google about a connected fabrics project.

LVMH was sharing highlights of the event for three days on its social networks. In addition to several Facebook Live sessions, LVMH posted Periscope videos and live tweets on the Group’s official Twitter account. The LVMH Instagram account was turned over during Viva Technology to MOOS-TANG, a talented duo of photographers who captured the best of the event. What’s more, each day a highlights video was posted on YouTube and on lvmh.com for a 360° immersion into Viva Technology.

The world’s most famous tech leaders and entrepreneurs came together at 2016 Viva Technology to present their vision and analyze key emerging trends, disruptive factors and best business practices across the sectors, touching on key topics including:

– Jimmy Wales, Founder of Wikipedia, Jay Carney, Chief Creative Officer of Amazon and Olivier Samwer, Chief Executive Officer of Rocket Internet debated on the topic of disruption;
