For the new collection, FENDI Artistic Director for Couture and Womenswear Kim Jones and artisans from the FENDI atelier delved into the codes of couture tradition to find fluidity and how clothing is worn. In a breathtaking display of craftsmanship and creativity, Fendi’s Artistic Director for Couture and Womenswear, Kim Jones, along with the skilled artisans from the Fendi atelier, have embarked on a couture journey like no other.

The latest collection explores the timeless codes of couture tradition while seamlessly integrating fluidity and a fresh perspective on how clothing can be worn. The result? A mesmerizing symphony of volume, drape, and impeccable tailoring that effortlessly adapts to the contours of the body.

Set against a backdrop of minimalist marbled decor, the silhouettes of the collection seem to gracefully glide on water, evoking a sense of ethereal beauty. Second-skin silks, tailored furs, and iconic Fendi chevron shearlings cocoon the body, exuding an air of understated luxury. Though the designs may appear deceptively simple, they are masterfully constructed with hidden intricacies and meticulous attention to detail. Remarkably, many garments are realized with just a single seam, showcasing the unparalleled craftsmanship of the Fendi atelier.

Adding another layer of allure to the collection is the exquisite high jewelry created by Delfina Delettrez Fendi, the Artistic Director of Jewelry at Fendi. Jewel box minaudières, worn like rings, take center stage, illuminating the runway with their radiance. These high jewelry pieces beautifully intertwine with the garments, creating a harmonious fusion between the worlds of fashion and fine jewelry. Embroidery techniques further enhance this synergy, uniting the intricate craftsmanship of the clothes with the brilliance of the precious gems.

The color palette of the collection, as described by Kim Jones, draws inspiration from flesh tones and the hues of precious stones.

Yellow and white diamonds, accompanied by vibrant shades of green, orange, and pink Padparadscha, sapphires, and spinels, create a captivating interplay of colors. Each piece is a testament to the transformative power of jewelry, as it illuminates the garments and the women who wear them.

Delfina Delettrez Fendi emphasizes the intimate relationship between the jewels and the body, highlighting that they are a profound and personal extension of a woman. The high jewelry pieces, meticulously crafted with love and expertise, become an expression of individuality, enhancing the wearer’s beauty and confidence.

The grand finale of the show left the audience spellbound. The final look, a glittering masterpiece, took an astounding 1,200 hours of meticulous handcrafting to achieve its radiant rose glow. It was a testament to the dedication and skill of the Fendi artisans who brought this vision to life.

As the show came to a close, Kim Jones and Delfina Delettrez Fendi appeared together, underscoring the importance of the creative synergies between their respective worlds. The seamless integration of haute couture and high jewelry in this collection demonstrates Fendi’s commitment to pushing boundaries and creating an immersive experience that celebrates the artistry of both disciplines.

Ancient marble sculptures are translated by Fendi’s Kim Jones into softly draped silhouettes

Legendary Italian filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini inspires Fendi haute couture.

Chapters of Rome’s history, its romantic allure and cultural legacy are interwoven with a distinctly contemporary aesthetic in the Fendi Couture Autumn – Winter 2021 collection, designed by Kim Jones.

Fendi presented its haute couture collection for Fall/Winter Hiver 2021-2022 through the lens of Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino. Womenswear Artistic Director, Kim Jones shared his vision of Rome, inspired by legendary Italian filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini.

From precious inlay effects to lavish crystal embroideries and appliqués, the Fendi Couture Autumn – Winter 2021 celebrates creativity and craftsmanship in their most refined forms. Themes and techniques inspired by the immortal allure of ancient marble sculptures are translated into softly draped silhouettes, delicate mineral hues, and intricate details. The breathtaking bags were inlaid with mother-of-pearl and marble mosaics inspired by authentic ancient murals.

Amidst the Italian Maison’s Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana headquarters, the silhouettes echoed the rich history of Rome, immersing us in a poetic universe where time seems to stand still. Fendi couture shoes are decorated with mosaics and gowns reference the building’s marble columns with mineral hues and contemporary cuts, set off by embroidered silk and lace.

Ethereal leather pleats, delicate lace and intricate embroideries offer a dreamy transfiguration of Classical and Renaissance motifs within a contemporary context.

Overlapping temporalities included Kate Moss walking the runway with her daughter, a fusing of generations for timeless fashion that celebrates Italian elegance and artisanal excellence.

Fendi Couture Fall/ Winter 2018-2019 dances between tradition and Haute Couture Innovation

Described as “a guessing game of texture and technique”, the Fendi Couture Fall/Winter 2018-2019 Collection dances between sublime tradition and new realities in Haute Couture Innovation.

Innovation illuminates a precious future for Fendi, where the Orphist approach to ‘pure painting’ is tempered by Neoclassical rigour. Fendi traveled to Paris and the Palais Brogniart to unveil its Fall/Winter 2018-2019 haute couture collection. The poetic collection was signed by the creative duo of Karl Lagerfeld, Creative Director of the Maison since 1965, and Silvia Venturini Fendi, Creative Director for Men’s collections and accessories. A flagship of Parisian architectural heritage, the Palais Brongniart provides a prestigious venue for hosting your major events in the very heart of the French Capital.

At the Palais Brongniart in Paris, Karl Lagerfeld, Creative Director of Fendi since 1965 presented the Maison’s Fall/Winter 2018-2019 haute couture collection.

The German couturier drew inspiration from the early 20th-century Orphism art movement, often called a poetic version of Cubism. The result was a highly colorful collection that melded tradition and modernity.

Ultra-feminine silhouettes accentuate the waist and shoulders. Organza and chiffon fabrics become trompe l’œil surfaces. Coats and dresses are graced in a rainbow palette of pink, apricot and lavender, echoing the canvasses of Czech painter František Kupka.

The Orphists were rooted in Cubism but moved toward a pure lyrical abstraction, seeing painting as the bringing together of a sensation of pure colors. More concerned with the expression and significance of sensation, this movement began with recognizable subjects but was rapidly absorbed by increasingly abstract structures. Orphism aimed to dispense with recognizable subject matter and to rely on form and color to communicate meaning. The movement also aimed to express the ideals of Simultanism: the existence of an infinitude of interrelated states of being.
