Six Dazzling Festive Trees: From Dior Christmas Tree to Charles Kaisin’s Origami

From a sparkling Dior tree in St Petersburg to an enchanting display of origami doves in flight at Hotel Amigo in Brussels, the red carpet has been rolled out for visitors to see the glittering decorations at Rocco Forte Hotels around Europe.

Every year Hotel Astoria surprises its guests with unique Christmas trees and this year is no exception, the hotel’s tree is by legendary luxury house Dior.

The design is dedicated to Italian folk art – Luminaria and the Dior Cruise 2021 collection. The tree is decorated with 300 ornaments in bright colours to reflect the collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri, dedicated to her home region – Lecce. The Dior Christmas tree at Hotel Astoria is located in the very heart of the hotel, Rotonda Lounge, and will continue to create a fashionable festive atmosphere until 14 January 2021.

Designer and artist Charles Kaisin for Hotel Amigo, Brussels

Famous Belgian designer and artist Charles Kaisin has partnered with the city of Brussels and Hotel Amigo to create monumental origami creations to celebrate the festive season. Visitors can follow the origami “birds” from the “Îlot Sacré” through to the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert and the Grand-Place before ending at Hotel Amigo.

Charles Kaisin’s breathtaking flight of golden origami birds await guests in the grand lobby as an enchanting spiral that makes its way from the reception desk to the tree mirroring a sensational flock of doves to symbolise peace and solidarity.

Florist Ellie Hartley for Brown’s Hotel, London, UK

Brown’s Hotel has teamed up with in-house florist, Ellie Hartley, who has taken inspiration from this challenging year, has created an enchanting fairy-tale like woodland Christmas tree using wild evergreen and lichen, pinecones, eucalyptus pods and cedar trees echoing a rustic feel throughout the hotel. Ellie’s aim was to symbolise nature throughout while still embodying the traditional and long heritage of comfort and sophistication of the hotel.

Roaring fires and a resident pianist playing Christmas carols accompany the hotel’s award winning traditional afternoon tea. Over at Charlie’s, where the decorations have followed a slightly more traditional theme, a special menu is available in the lead up to Christmas and on the day itself including venison wellington and whole roast goose. No visit to Brown’s is complete without dropping in on its stylish drinking den, the Donovan Bar, serving impeccable festive-inspired cocktails alongside a new and innovative food menu.

Strathberry for Balmoral Festive Tree in Edinburgh

The Balmoral in Edinburgh has partnered with contemporary designer Strathberry this festive season to celebrate the best of home-grown Scottish luxury. Strathberry opens its first Scottish flagship store on Multrees Walk this December and in collaboration with The Balmoral, has adorned the sparkling trees in the hotel’s famous Palm Court with decorations of the signature gold Strathberry bar which appears on the brand’s designs. Guests can experience Afternoon Tea throughout the festive season under the decorated trees with a special sweet treat inspired by the brand. The collaboration between The Balmoral and Strathberry follows HRH The Duchess of Cambridge carrying a clutch bag from the brand when she stepped out in Edinburgh this week on a UK tour.

Sebastian Flowers for Hotel de Russie, Rome

The well-known Roman florists, Sebastian Flowers, has set up a Christmas pop-up shop at Hotel de Russie alongside their creatively imaginative Christmas decorations. Upon entering the hotel guests will find different coloured displays of traditional Christmas colours such as deep reds and shiny golds to symbolise love, passion, magic, grandeur and prosperity in hopes of evoking a feeling of nostalgia for visitors to remember the “good old days”.

World-renowned chef, Fulvio Pierangelini has created special holiday menus for guests to enjoy in the hotel or at home complete with a special arrangement by Sebastian Flowers.

Alongside Hotel de la Ville’s sister hotel, Hotel de Russie, Sebastian Flowers has also expressively decorated the hotel with the wish that when guests enter the lobby they are stepping into a “wave” of Christmas decorations. The Ocean is this year’s Christmas theme and the ornaments all tell a story. The oyster ornament with pearl symbolizes obstacles that must be overcome to get to hope, and the seahorse ornament is a sign of luck, a good fortune charm, and also considered to be a symbol of strength and power.
