Supporting Sarah Lucas at Tate Britain

Burberry has joined forces with Tate Britain to pay tribute to the groundbreaking British artist Sarah Lucas through the “Sarah Lucas: HAPPY GAS” exhibition. This extraordinary showcase spans four decades of Lucas’s artistic journey, featuring over 75 artworks, including brand-new pieces making their debut.

Lucas is celebrated globally for her audacious work and her knack for infusing humor and visual puns into various mediums. The exhibition, meticulously crafted in collaboration with the artist herself, reveals how Lucas continually reimagines her career’s defining themes, consistently injecting fresh perspectives into her craft.

Set close to Burberry’s headquarters in London’s SW1, Tate Britain is an integral part of the UK’s cultural tapestry. This partnership exemplifies Burberry’s dedication to celebrating British creativity and aligning itself with groundbreaking artists.

Acquiring Pattern SpA: Elevating Outerwear Expertise

Burberry has completed its acquisition of a product development business from Pattern SpA, a long-standing Italian supplier. This strategic investment promises to bolster Burberry’s technical outerwear capabilities, affording the brand greater control over product quality, cost, delivery, and sustainability.

Building upon its proud tradition of manufacturing in the UK, including weaving gabardine and crafting iconic trench coats, this move enhances Burberry’s commitment to maintaining high-quality craftsmanship. It follows the successful integration of the brand’s leather goods hub in Florence, Italy.

This acquisition signifies Burberry’s ongoing dedication to delivering premium, sustainable outerwear that stands as a testament to its rich heritage.

Life Chances: Empowering Ukrainian Youths with Save the Children

In a heartfelt endeavor, the Burberry Foundation has partnered with Save the Children to introduce “Life Chances,” a program designed to uplift young individuals affected by the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. This initiative seeks to help young Ukrainian refugees recover and rebuild their lives by focusing on education, career prospects, social and emotional well-being, and fostering their capacity to drive positive change in their communities.

Initially slated to operate exclusively in Poland until June 2025, Life Chances targets Ukrainian refugees aged 14-18. Furthermore, the program will extend its services to young people in Poland starting in November 2023.

In the midst of crises and displacement, education and social engagement are critical for providing young people with purpose, identity, and a sense of belonging. Unfortunately, only 44 percent of Ukrainian children were enrolled in local schools by the end of the 2022/2023 academic year. To address this gap, Life Chances offers comprehensive support in areas such as language assistance, academic guidance, mental health support, and activities promoting social connections and cohesion.

Implemented through libraries and community spaces throughout Poland, the program ensures access to information, culture, and technology, creating a secure environment for young refugees to develop their potential and thrive.

This partnership exemplifies Burberry’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility, mirroring the values of the Burberry Inspire initiative by creating opportunities for young people to shape positive change in their lives and communities.
