Kering-owned Balenciaga luxury fashion brand is distancing from controversial American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and fashion designer. Kanye West. Balenciaga was one of Kanye West’s closest and oldest partners in the fashion world.

The luxury fashion label no longer has “any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist,” parent company Kering luxury group told WWD.

Balenciaga began distancing itself from West following his controversial appearance on the podcast Drink Champs released last week, where he falsely claimed that George Floyd wasn’t murdered but killed by fentanyl and made even more antisemitic remarks.

Kering group issued a statement saying West’s runway look from Balenciaga’s Spring 2023 show at Paris Fashion Week had been deleted from Vogue Runway, as well as the Balenciaga website.

Kanye West, now known as “Ye”, last month terminated his partnership with Gap Inc., signaling an increasingly combative attitude that has also left his 10-year relationship with Adidas hanging in the balance. The German sportswear firm said on Oct. 6 its partnership with the Yeezy brand was “under review.”

Following the publication of its third-quarter results on Thursday, parent company Kering said the French fashion house would no longer be working on projects with the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, who has made increasingly controversial public comments in recent weeks, including anti-Semitic threats.

As a fashion designer, Kanye West has collaborated with Nike, Louis Vuitton, The Gap, and A.P.C. on clothing and footwear. He is also the founder and head of the creative content company Donda and due to become the owner of the social media platform Parler. In 2020, he launched an unsuccessful independent presidential campaign that primarily advocated for a consistent life ethic. Ye has been his legal name since 2021.
