Karl Lagerfeld launching Shu Uemura beauty line
After the capsule line for French beauty chain Sephora, Karl Lagerfeld’s next beauty partnership in his endless series of collaborations is a line with Shu Uemura, the international cosmetics brand founded by world-renowned Japanese make-up artist and beauty guru Shu Uemura.
Karl Lagerfeld, a longtime customer and fan of Shu Uermura, will select the colors and the packaging for the 17-piece collection, set to be delivered in stores just in time for the holidays.
For two decades, Karl Lagerfeld used Shu Uemura products to sketch his designs, portraits and, even, political cartoons. The designer’s explanation is simple: “other manufacturers do not offer such beautiful colors.”
Renowned for his masterful makeup artistry since 1958, Shu Uemura helped pioneer the concept of the makeup artist, merging makeup and art through his bi-annual mode makeup collections and on-stage makeup performances. Each of Shu Uemura’s products embraces elements of art, nature and science through original packaging, unique textures, key ingredients and ground-breaking product formulas.
