To mark Giorgio Armani’s birthday, the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato and the Ministero dell’Economia e delle Finanze has released a selection of commemorative coins of the “Eccellenze Italiane” series dedicated to Mr Armani. The gold coin is dedicated to the historic headquarters of Giorgio Armani: Palazzo Orsini has been skilfully etched by Annalisa Masini.

Italian Ministry of Economics and Finance Celebrates Giorgio Armani’s Anniversary with Numismatic Tribute

In a momentous celebration of Mr. Armani’s birthday, the Italian Ministry of Economics and Finance, in collaboration with the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato, has unveiled a remarkable collection of commemorative coins as part of the esteemed “Eccellenze Italiane” series dedicated to the legendary fashion icon, Giorgio Armani.

The centerpiece of this prestigious collection is a captivating gold coin that pays homage to the historic headquarters of Giorgio Armani, Palazzo Orsini. Skillfully crafted by renowned artist Annalisa Masini, the coin captures the architectural splendor of this iconic establishment. Alongside the gold coin, a series of exquisite silver coins have been created, showcasing sketches of some of Mr. Armani’s most iconic designs.

The release of these remarkable coins signifies the Italian government’s recognition of Mr. Armani’s exceptional contributions to the realms of fashion, design, and international luxury. It is a testament to his status as a true icon of Italian style and creativity.

The gold coin, with a denomination of 50 euros, is issued by the Ministry of Economics and Finance and minted by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the coin exemplifies the finest craftsmanship and artistic excellence. The limited edition “Fior di Conio” version of the coin boasts a total mintage of only 500 pieces, making it a highly coveted collector’s item.

The obverse side of the coin features a captivating portrayal of Palazzo Orsini in Milan, the legal headquarters of Giorgio Armani S.p.A. The central façade of the palace takes center stage, framed by the inscriptions “GIORGIO ARMANI” and “Palazzo Orsini” at the top and bottom respectively. Completing the design is the inscription “REPUBBLICA ITALIANA” encircling the coin.

On the reverse side, the coin proudly displays the name “GIORGIO ARMANI” at the center. Above it, the inscription “CINQUANTA EURO” (fifty euros) is arched gracefully, while the minting details “R” (representing the Rome Mint), “2023” (the year of coin issuance), and “AM” (the initials of the coin’s artist, Annalisa Masini) are showcased below. The background features an intricately designed texture, adding a touch of elegance to the overall composition.
