A new symbol of Christian Dior’s love of nature, the 2022 gardening set from the French luxury brand elegantly celebrates the art of planting. These creations are exclusively available in Dior’s physical stores.

DIOR GARDENING SET: The on-the-go gardening set designed by Kim Jones

Thankfully there are flowers”, said Christian Dior. He was known as a gallery owner, an architecture enthusiast and a talented fashion designer, but he also enjoyed gardening. It was in Granville, in the rose garden of his family’s villa overlooking the sea, that this fascination with nature and culture began to blossom in his childhood. A passion perpetuated later, in his country houses – havens of peace far from the hustle and bustle of 30 Avenue Montaigne. “Close to the earth, I always feel more secure,” wrote Monsieur Dior in his memoirs.

Specially conceived with exceptional savoir-faire, a folding seat in grained bullion leather exalts the classic references of Dior leather goods with its curves evoking the Saddle, the House’s iconic bag. Two tools complete this limited edition set: a hand rake for raking and leveling soil, as well as a spade that’s ideal for digging and replanting. Embellished with bull calfskin, they both reveal the engraved ‘DIOR’ signature at the handle ends.

The Dior Gardening Set in Black Grained Bull Calfskin is priced at 8.700,00 €.

DIOR BY BIRKENSTOCK: THE SAVOIR-FAIRE

For the Dior men’s Winter 2022-2023 collection, the House and Kim Jones are paying homage to Christian Dior’s passion for gardening by joining forces with Birkenstock for the first time. An unprecedented creative dialogue that reinvents two iconic pairs of shoes, striking a perfect balance of comfort, elegance, and craftsmanship.

The Milano sandal and the Tokio mule are emblematic models of the Birkenstock collections, dressed in felt or suede, in seasonal colors or the classic Dior Gray. Unique in their design and in their practicality, both creations have a utilitarian style characterized by rubber elements and industrial buckles.

Adapted to the natural human stride, the orthopedic, anatomical footbed is adorned with smooth leather, while the outer sole combines the Dior Oblique pattern with Birkenstock’s signature Bones graphic. As a delightful final twist, an exceptional version of the Tokio*, hand-embroidered with delicate flowers, completes the couture silhouettes of the show.

DIOR AQUARIUS COLLECTION

Designed by Cordelia de Castellane, 2022 DIOR Aquarius tableware collection poetically evokes the river that flows past the mill at Monsieur Dior’s country home in Milly-la-Forêt. A haven of peace where Christian Dior found refuge, far from the hustle and bustle of Paris: “I could retire into my bower of flowers, and listen in peace to the bells of Milly,” he wrote in his memoirs.

Freshwater fish, adorned in luminous shades of blue and green, teem elegantly on the glassware blown in Italy, and on the earthenware plates made in France. The ultimate detail, demonstrating the House’s exquisite craftsmanship, table linen is delicately embroidered and painted by hand.
