Founded in 1996, Greenwich Concours d’Elegance is a three-day premier motoring event in Greenwich, Conn. Exclusive gatherings, luxury shopping, ride and drives, new vehicle experiences and automotive heritage elements complement Friday’s Grand Tour and Saturday’s Concours de Sport. Sunday’s nationally recognized Concours d’Elegance celebrates historically significant American and International vehicles along the town’s picturesque harbor front. Each year the event supports local charities as a part of Hagerty’s larger giving strategy.

The Greenwich Concours d’Elegance, a revered motoring event that showcases the finest automobiles, recently concluded its 27th edition with a splendid display of automotive heritage, elegance, and unparalleled craftsmanship. From the exquisite selection of vehicles to the engaging activities, the event captured the essence of car culture while supporting local charities as part of Hagerty’s philanthropic endeavors.

At the prestigious Concours de Sport on Saturday, the 1965 Ford GT40 Mk I reigned supreme as the Best of Show. This remarkable example, showcased by Benjamin Levy from Andover, Massachusetts, boasts a storied history. Chassis number P/1030, this GT40 never competed in races but remains one of the most original and iconic models in existence. Notably, it served as a source of inspiration for the renowned Ford GT built in 2005 and 2006.

Stealing the limelight at the Concours d’Elegance on Sunday was the magnificent 1937 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B, owned by Lawrence Auriana. This extraordinary vehicle began its journey as a race car, participating in prestigious events such as the Mille Miglia and the Stelvio Hill Climb, achieving remarkable results. Later, it was transformed into an elegant road car by Pinin Farina, adding another layer of allure to its captivating history.

Reflecting on the event’s success, McKeel Hagerty, CEO of Hagerty, expressed his pride in the concours’ place in the global automotive landscape. The Alfa Romeo 8C and the Ford GT40 were hailed as worthy recipients of the Best of Show accolades, embodying excellence, elegance, and a rich automotive heritage.

The Greenwich Concours de Sport showcased more than 150 cars across various classes, captivating enthusiasts and families alike with an array of interactive activities such as ride and drives, racing simulators, and the Hagerty Future Drivers Club.

As the event further established itself as a premier automotive gathering, the Concours d’Elegance classes delighted visitors with a diverse lineup, including Pre- and Post-War Alfa Romeo, Steam Cars, Post-War American, Italian, German, and English cars, as well as a special showcase of the Cars of Wayne Carini, this year’s Grand Marshal.

Beyond the captivating vehicles and engaging experiences, the 2023 Greenwich Concours also championed sustainability efforts. Through conscious initiatives such as a reduction in printed programs and diverting water bottles from landfills, the event demonstrated its commitment to environmental responsibility.

The 27th Greenwich Concours d’Elegance was a resounding success, with over 10,000 weekend attendees and substantial pledges to local nonprofits.
