Loro Piana announces new world record for exceptionally fine Merino wool fiber

In the world of luxury, Loro Piana stands as a beacon of excellence, continually pushing the boundaries of quality and craftsmanship. The recent 24th and 25th editions of the Loro Piana Record Bale Award, held in London, marked yet another milestone in the pursuit of perfection.

The coveted Australian 2023 Loro Piana World Record Bale Award was bestowed upon Pyreness Park farm and breeders Pamela, Robert, and Bradley Sandlant for their exceptional achievement in producing Merino wool fiber with a staggering fineness of just 10.2 microns. Surpassing the previous record set in 2013, this remarkable feat underscores the unwavering dedication of breeders to elevate the standards of Merino wool production. Similarly, the New Zealand 2023 Loro Piana Record Bale Award was presented to Barrie and Yvonne Payne of Visuela Farm, further emphasizing the global reach and impact of Loro Piana’s commitment to excellence.

The awards ceremony, hosted by CEO Damien Bertrand and Deputy Chairman Pier Luigi Loro Piana, highlighted the Maison’s relentless pursuit of the finest Merino wool. Each garment crafted from the award-winning wool bears a special label documenting its traceability and micron count, a testament to Loro Piana’s dedication to exceptional quality and luxury.

Since its inception in 1997, the Loro Piana Record Bale Award has celebrated the pinnacle of Merino wool production, inspiring breeders in Australia and New Zealand to strive for excellence. Of the millions of bales selected annually, only a select few qualify for the prestigious prize, culminating in the recognition of the World Record Bale. Beyond accolades, the award serves as a catalyst for breeders to continually raise the bar and cultivate the finest wool fibers.
