Airspeeder is the world’s first racing series for electric flying cars.

The Airspeeder racing series is the brainchild of founder Matt Pearson, who also runs Alauda, the world’s first performance electric flying car manufacturer. Taking inspiration from the role sport has traditionally played in advancing the cause of technology, Pearson’s visionary idea is to create a new kind of motorsport to accelerate the advanced air mobility revolution and transform passenger, logistical and even medical transportation.

The planned global race series will eventually see a full grid of eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) craft,
manufactured by Alauda, managed by individual teams and operated by elite pilots, compete at heights of up to 40m off the ground and at top speeds of 200km/h. The air races will take place on electronically-created tracks and be streamed globally, minimising the environmental impact of more complex logistics and infrastructure.

“It’s fantastic to play a part in bringing Matt’s bold vision to life. The Airspeeder team are true pioneers of aviation and they are bringing together two things that are really close to IWC’s heart. From making some of the planet’s best pilots’ watches for the last eighty years to the cut and thrust of modern automotive design and racing, we have always equipped and inspired those who dare to dream. We are proud to collaborate on an endeavour that will make such a progressive impact on society,”  Christoph Grainger-Herr, IWC CEO.

Airspeeder developed its first small-scale prototype performance eVTOL in 2017 and has continued to finesse the design ever since through computer modelling and simulation, as well as extensive testing.

The newest vehicle, the Mk3, is the world’s first fully functional electric flying racing car.

With an overall aesthetic reminiscent of classic 1950s sportscars combined with racing drones, the speeders feature an octocopter layout, airfoil- profiled rotor arms, cutting- edge carbon-fibre composites and the latest EV battery technology. New advances in safety are delivered through a suite of technologies and engineering elements never before seen on an eVTOL craft. These innovations include LiDAR and Radar collision avoidance systems that create a ‘virtual force field’ around the craft to ensure close but ultimately safe racing. Designed for maximum performance and aerial agility, they move through the air with precision and pace. An entire grid of these remotely piloted Mk3s is currently being built by Airspeeder, ahead of this year’s competitive pilotless events.

The Mk4 is expected to launch in 2022, before the inaugural crewed season gets underway.

The Jacob & Co. Fast & Furious Twin Turbo celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Fast & Furious film saga.

The Jacob & Co. Fast & Furious Twin Turbo is a uniquely complex timepiece that serves as a proper vehicle to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Fast & Furious film saga.

The Fast & Furious Twin Turbo timepiece is a new product offering between Jacob & Co. and Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious franchise. Jacob Arabo, founder of Jacob & Co., says he chose to collaborate with the blockbuster film saga
because they both have the same values.

“Fast & Furious uses innovation and new technologies to disrupt the action movie space. We do the same thing with Swiss watchmaking and this sort of disruption through innovation continues to be our goal,” Arabo said.

The Fast & Furious limited-edition watch combines the DNA of both the exceptionally popular action series and the luxury brand that is “Inspired By The Impossible.” It includes iconic imageryassociated with the first film “The Fast and the Furious,” combined with a groundbreaking timepiece designed for speed.

The ~$580,000 watch combines four complications that have never appeared together in a watch: a twin triple-axis
tourbillon, decimal minute repeater, monopusher chronograph, and pit board time difference calculator. This is combined with imagery inspired by the first film “The Fast and the Furious”. Its launch is timed with the theatrical release of “F9, Fast & Furios 9,” the latest chapter in the blockbuster franchise.

The large sapphire crystal face features imagery iconic to the first Fast & Furious film from 2001: a starting girl with checkered flags, behind her are hot rod cars ready to bolt – one American muscle, the other a supercharged import, above both is the Fast & Furious logo. The images capture the feeling of living life one- quarter-mile at a time. This scene is encased with a black textured 57mm by 52mm case is made of forged carbon, comprising of 88 parts.

Fulminea hypercar, the fastest technology lab on wheels, to debut at Salon Privé

@Automobili Estrema Fulminea hypercar

From the globally renowned Concours d’Elégance to the presentation of the Club Trophy by Lockton, this year’s Salon Privé UK is set to be another unforgettable celebration of the very best that the motoring world has to offer.

Cutting-edge hypercar will be part of exclusive new Concepts & Prototypes Lawn at Blenheim Palace, UK.

The ground-breaking Automobili Estrema Fulminea will make its UK debut at this year’s Salon Privé, which returns to Blenheim Palace from 1-5 September 2021, and is set to be part of an exciting new Concepts & Prototypes class in the event’s prestigious Concours d’Elégance.

The sensational Fulminea is a fully electric hypercar built by Automobili Estrema, which was founded in 2020 by
entrepreneur Gianfranco Pizzuto. Based in Modena at the heart of Italy’s legendary automotive industry, Automobili Estrema is aiming to make the Fulminea ‘the fastest technology lab on wheels’ and will specialise in the design and
production of exclusive hypercars built in limited numbers.

@Automobili Estrema Fulminea hypercar

Set to go on sale in the second half of 2023, the Fulminea will be the first car in the world to use an innovative ‘hybrid’ battery pack that combines Li-ion cells with solid-state electrolyte and ultracapacitors. The set-up provides 100kWh of energy to power the four electric motors with a total output equivalent to 2040hp, enough to propel the Fulminea from 0 to 320kph in less than 10 seconds.

The predicted range is 520km and, with a battery weight of only 300kg, the total weight of this cutting-edge vehicle is just 1500kg.

As well as incorporating the most sophisticated technology the automotive industry has to offer, the Fulminea also stands out for its aerodynamic and compact shape. Lightweight composite materials are used in its design, which was optimised via the use of CFD testing and features active aerodynamic elements such as the front air intake and retractable rear wing.

The Fulminea will be part of the brand-new Concepts & Prototypes class in the Salon Privé Concours d’Elégance and the winner will be selected by a panel of globally recognised judges. Ten of the most stylish, elegant and innovative designs in the motoring world will be presented throughout the week in a covered display area located at the very heart of the event – the cricket square on the South Lawn of Blenheim Palace, UK.

@Automobili Estrema Fulminea hypercar

Overlooked by guests dining on beautifully appointed private terraces, this exclusive enclave will present enthusiasts and collectors with the opportunity to congregate with designers and manufacturers, and celebrate the very latest in automotive technology.

‘The Fulminea marks the beginning of a new generation of electric cars – it has all the characteristics of a racing car, but features a fully electric powertrain and innovative solutions. Our philosophy is based on four main concepts – romance, elegance, purity and balance – and we can think of nowhere better than Salon Privé at which to give the Fulminea its UK debut.” – Gianfranco Pizzuto, Founder and CEO of Automobili Estrema.

‘Salon Privé has a long tradition of attracting the most unique, radical and exhilarating automotive designs, many of which have been unveiled for the first time at the event. With the kind permission of His Grace The Duke of Marlborough, we are delighted to launch the new Concepts & Prototypes Lawn, and look forward to welcoming Automobili Estrema to Blenheim Palace.” – Salon Privé Director, David Bagley.

Beyond the Concours there is plenty more to see, with a lawn full of the world’s most impressive luxury and supercar manufacturers, all showing their latest releases. In 2020, 25 Global, European and UK debuts took place on the South Lawn, confirming the event as a destination for new releases – a tradition that will be continued in 2021.
