Yoko Ono wins EUR20,000 Austrian art prize
Austrian 2011 Oskar-Kokoschka-Prize went to Japanese avant-garde artist and peace activist Yoko Ono. The 78 old artist has been awarded the 20,000-euro ($26,100) art prize in Austria.
Ono, Beatles John Lennon’s widow, is an “outstanding artistic personality,” jury president Gerald Bast said. She is due to pick up the prize, named after Austrian painter Oskar Kokoschka (1886-1980), in March.
