Maison Martin Margiela’s first wallpaper collaboration

Maison Martin Margiela developed, in cooperation with Belgian luxe wallpaper company Omexco, a new unprecedented line of home decoration dedicated to well-dressed walls. The new collaboration will be exhibited at this year’s Salone del Mobile in Milano.

The new wallcoverings include five design themes with different color offerings for each pattern: “l’optique”, “la paésine”, “la mosaïque”, “le rideau”, and “le point de croix”.

“La paésine” was inspired by a Tuscan limestone, also called “landscape grain”. This stone was spotted at a flea market, photographed and enlarged.
“La mosaïque” is a traditional, geometric, marble mosaic print, most commonly used in 18th century marketery. The print is
enhanced with silver or gold leaf.

“Le rideau” from the trompe l’oeil of a typical Maison pattern is transformed, using a printing framework designed to achieve a scattered effect, which can be seen from different perspectives.
“Le point de croix” os a classic cross-stitch canvas with a finely crafted bouquet of flowers.
“L’optique” wallpaper is a deformed herringbone motif with an optical illusion.
