Mont Blanc glaciers saved by Alberta Ferretti Jumpers

A concrete step towards a better world.

@Alberta Ferretti Save The Glacier Jumper 2023

The new Alberta Ferretti #SavetheGlacier project celebrates the environment and our planet. All knitwear is made with recycled cashmere and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to environmental projects dedicated to the Mont Blanc glaciers.

SAVE THE GLACIER JUMPER

Alberta Ferretti joins Skyway Mont Blanc and presents Save The Glacier, the new sweater (Fabric: 98% cashmere, 2% Wool) to support the protection of the environment and glaciers. Made from soft recycled cashmere, the Alberta Ferretti Save the Glacier top is available in two color variants: white with black inlay writing and black with white inlay writing. Part of the proceeds from the partnership will be donated to environmental projects for the Mont Blanc glaciers.

Skyway Monte Bianco, a cable car that connects the Italian town of Courmayeur with the southern side of Mont Blanc massif in France, the company has committed to protecting the Mont Blanc Glacier. The plan, entitled, Save The Glacier Project, is a sustainable research project which will analyze the human activity on the glacier and ways to mitigate the impact.

Skyway has already started implementing its plan which includes:

  • Disposing of 20 tons of scrap metal and iron that were unearthed, and have been transported off the Gran Flambeau glacier to be recycled.
  • Starting to source green-certified supplies, and reducing waste
  • Sourcing 100% renewable power to supply electricity to the electric heat pumps
  • Providing water distribution points and thermal bottles are given to employees to avoid the use of plastic bottles.

Skyway plans to expand its reach and create a “green consortium” which other companies, like Alberta Ferretti, suppliers, and institutions can join.

“Glaciers are the most immediate evidence of climate change. The highest glaciers in Europe are those of Mont Blanc and the forecasts, if confirmed, say that they will be among the last to die out. To preserve them we need to work together and act sustainably, so that we can all continue to treasure and enjoy these mountains for centuries to come.” said the President of Skyway Mont Blanc, Federica Bieller.

Alberta Ferretti Prefall 2023 Nightime Romance

For Alberta Ferretti each collection is a way to explore the richness and complexities of the feminine psychology while expanding the codes and nuances of an utterly personal style, in which poetry and self-awareness, precision and softness, delicacy and willfulness are mixed in ever evolving ways. What interests her, as a woman and as a designer, is the dialogue with women, that is the possibility of offering each fashion enthusiasts the space to interpret the garments in a personal way and to impress an individual signature: fashion as a tool, concrete yet dreamy. At the center of everything, always, is the body, enhanced in its shape and movements.

The romanticism typical of Alberta Ferretti this season takes on dense and nocturnal shades, and is enriched with punk touches whilst maintaining the seductive languors, the lingerie details and the soft elegance, coming across as a kaleidoscope of possibilities. It is the palette that sets the tone: deep and precious as a gemstone, in an amalgamation of amethyst purple, emerald green, silver gray, ruby red, platinum, black diamond with accents of amber and zircon. The pictorial colors pervade a wardrobe that mixes masculine tailoring and very light couture volumes, impeccable suits and leatherblousons, raw-cut trench coats and ball gowns.

Short and long, fluid and graphic are part of the same proposal, played on the contrasts of textures and shapes: lacquered sweaters worn over cady shorts, airy dresses worn with colliers de chien, ruffle shirts under liquid silk velvet suits. Trousers elongate the silhouette and dematerialize it in a quiver of feathers or fringes. In the evening, everything becomes intangible and precious. Fabrics give substance to this vision: cady, silk velvet, taffetas, satin, graphic lace, double-faced felt, chiffon, nappa, macramé, filcoupé, mohair and merino wool for knitwear. Embroideries are a precious and decadent touch. A vision of empowered romance. The night as anidea of seductive elegance.

Ralph Lauren’s cashmere sweater to be the first-of-its-kind luxury Cradle to Cradle Certified product

@Ralph Lauren Cable Knit Cashmere Jumper

How we design and make products today shapes the world we will inhabit tomorrow.

American fashion company Ralph Lauren has recently launched a new circularity strategy. As part of this effort, they will certify five of their iconic products under the Cradle to Cradle Certified Products Program. Cradle to Cradle Certified is the global standard for products that are safe, circular and responsibly made.

Ralph Lauren Deepens Commitment to Timelessness in 2022 Global Citizenship & Sustainability Report.

Ralph Lauren Corporation published its 2022 Global Citizenship & Sustainability Report, outlining the high end brand’s progress across its environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments. The new Report further details Ralph Lauren’s evolved Timeless by Design approach to ensure its philosophy of timelessness is embedded from inspiration through to products’ every use and reuse across generations.

“Ralph’s embrace of timelessness has kept our designs and, ultimately, our business resilient and relevant for more than 50 years,” said Patrice Louvet, President & Chief Executive Officer, Ralph Lauren Corporation. “Embedding this philosophy across our entire value chain is a natural and critical extension of Ralph’s vision as we work to address our impacts beyond the beautiful products and experiences we create.”

As part of Timeless by Design, the American luxury brand strengthened its commitment to advancing a circular economy through its new Live On promise to enable its past and future products to live on responsibly by 2030. The new commitment includes targeted goals such as investing to scale regenerative practices and innovative technologies by 2025 and extending the life of its products by piloting ways for its consumers to rent, repair and recirculate Ralph Lauren products by 2025 in select top cities.

Ralhp Lauren’s iconic cashmere sweater will be the first-of-its-kind luxury Cradle to Cradle (C2C) Certified product, available to consumers later this year.

Cradle to Cradle Certified assesses the safety, circularity and responsibility of materials and products across five categories of sustainability performance:

  • Material Health: ensuring materials are safe for humans and the environment;
  • Product Circularity: enabling a circular economy through regenerative products and process design;
  • Clean Air & Climate Protection: protecting clean air, promoting renewable energy, and reducing harmful emissions;
  • Water & Soil Stewardship: safeguarding clean water and healthy soils;
  • Social Fairness: respecting human rights and contributing to a fair and equitable society.
