Tod’s to relaunch iconic Elsa Schiaparelli fashion house

The opening of the “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossibile conversations” exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum in New York was the perfect moment for an important announcement for the world of fashion. Diego Della Valle, owner of Tod’s Group, intends to relaunch the iconic Italian fashion brand Elsa Schiaparelli.

Della Valle purchased the rights to the Elsa Schiaparelli label in 2007, and is looking for a Creative Director. In 1935 Elsa Schiaparelli, a rival of Coco Chanel, had a fashion salon at 21 place Vendome in Paris. Tod’s owner managed to open the new Schiaparelli fashion house at the same address

“The idea with Schiaparelli is to propose the brand with all its modernity, and represent dreams, art and all the most sophisticated things we can do,” Della Valle told WWD. “This brand doesn’t have to get involved in the frenetic world of numbers, accounts and dimensions, but it just has to express itself at its best. The heart of this project will be the Parisian maison in Place Vendôme, in the original location where the first atelier was.”
