Stella McCartney to release Spring 2013 eyewear range

The 41-year-old British designer Stella McCartney is pushing her eco-friendly agenda with the realease of first collection of optical eyewear in March 2013. McCartney’s first foray into straight-up optical wear is produces from renewable and biodegradable cellulose, bio-acetate (a material made of 54% natural sources), mixed together with natural plasticizers produced from citric acid.

The eco-friendly credentials are paired with minimalist design and five styles in taupe, black, teal, burgundy, and tortoise, including both light and spotted versions of the classic shade.

“Optical is more and more part of fashion. If you actually take a moment to look around, you are surrounded by optical both as a necessity and a statement. It is exciting because it says something new, all ages express themselves through optical,” said McCartney.

Prices will range from €180 to €190.
