Rolex inaugurated new watch movement production facility in Bienne

Swiss luxury watch manufacturer Rolex has unveiled the brand’s new movement production workshops in in Bienne setting a new standard in luxury watch manufacturing. With a single ultra-modern 400,000 m3 site, Rolex building in Bienne is one of Switzerland’s largest industrial construction projects in recent years. The world’s leading luxury watchmaker aims to combine watchmaking know-how with cutting-edge technology and to rationalize production of its watch movements, adding employee comfort and environment issues. The new Rolex movement manufacturing facility occupies 230,000 m3–over a total area of a sprawling 92,000 m2.

The new Rolex building in Bienne complies with the Swiss Minergie sustainable building standard. The building is distinguished by a rational use of energy, a high-performance thermal envelope, the adoption of renewable energies and high degree of integration between industrial processes and the building’s technical systems.
