Prince Harry & St. Regis Connoisseur Nacho Figueras to compete in the 5th Sentebale Polo Cup

2014 Sentebale Polo Cup: Prince Harry and Nacho Figueras on the polo field in Abu Dhabi.
Sentebale Polo Cup presented by Royal Salute World Polo is set to take place at Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club in UAE on Thursday 20th November.

The Sentebale Polo Cup was Prince Harry’s brainchild back in 2010. Taking place at Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club in Abu Dhabi on November 20, the highly-anticipated 2014 Sentebale charitable polo match will bring on the field Prince Harry, playing for the Sentebale Huntsman polo team, and Nacho Figueras, captaining the St. Regis oolo team. The duo will compete in an exhilarating match in an effort to raise awareness and support for the improved healthcare and education of the children of Lesotho, Africa.

Sentebale is currently building the Mamohato Children’s Centre in Lesotho, a purpose- built residential centre, due to be complete next year. The centre will enable Sentebale to provide support to many more vulnerable children affected by HIV/AIDS in Lesotho and will serve as the platform for expansion into other affected southern African countries.

Last year, Prince Harry scored the winning goal for the Sentebale Land Rover team in a close match against the St. Regis team which was led by Nacho Figueras at The Greenwich Polo Club in Connecticut. In 2012, Nacho Figueras led the St. Regis team against Prince Harry’s Sentebale team in Sao Paulo, and in 2010, Prince Harry attended an “Evening to Honor Sentebale” at The St. Regis New York.

“Sentebale is delighted to be hosting our Sentebale Polo Cup in Abu Dhabi this year. This event is extremely important to the charity, and allows us to continue to help and support some of the most vulnerable children in the world, through our work in Lesotho. ” said Cathy Ferrier, Chief Executive of Sentebale.

Earlier this year, St. Regis kicked off the polo season in the United Kingdom with the seventh annual St. Regis International Polo Cup at Cowdray Park Polo Club. Nacho Figueras captained South America, but it was Audi England who emerged winners in the exhilarating match, which was followed by the first-ever Family Traditions at St. Regis Polo Cup. Late September, the brand hosted the inaugural St. Regis Polo Cup in Sonoma at the Wine Country Polo Club, in aid of Giant Steps Therapeutic Equestrian Center.

St. Regis Hotels & Resorts has long been associated with the world of polo, beginning at the turn of the last century when polo matches on Manhattan’s Governors Island were the highlight of the New York social calendar and where St. Regis’ founding family, the Astors, were a prominent fixture. As St. Regis continues to grow globally, the brand expands its polo presence in nearly as many destinations: this year, hosting spirited polo matches and marquee events in London, Sonoma Valley, Bridgehampton, and Bangkok.
