Milan Fashion Week: One thing is certain, the “climate has changed”

Milan welcomes international fashion professionals and the fashion public with few megascreens placed in strategic locations of the city’s centre to showcase live the Milan Fashion Week. The fashion-show programme and the numerous related events feature at this re-invented edition 74 fashion shows (of which 7 double shows and a collective show for two brands), 69 presentations for 63 brands, 15 presentations by appointment for 15 brands, for a total of 146 collections.

“This is the first edition of Milano Moda Donna after the appointment of the new board of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, where I am in the company of the most important protagonists of the fashion system.” – commented the President of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Mario Boselli – “One thing is certain, the “climate has changed” and the Milan fashion week will prove it: many more young, promising brands are scheduled in the fashion-week calendar; many more quality events, historical venues of great prestige such as Palazzo Reale, Palazzo Della Ragione and Palazzo Clerici and, for sure, beautiful collections. In short, it will be a week full of positive energies!”

Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana is to welcome international fashion professionals with a Welcome Brunch on the first day of the week. On Saturday September 21st, from 8.30 PM, the historical Palazzo Morando will host the opening night of the Exhibition “Hat-ology Anna Piaggi and her hats”, together with the exhibition “Valentina Cortese: a style”, a star narrated through herprecious wardrobe, that will be on display until November 10th. The Closing Cocktail of September 23rd at Palazzo Reale will bid arrivederci to the fashion professionals until the next Milano Fashion Week. While all citizens and fashion lovers will be able to participate in the closing event at the Palazzina Liberty which, on this occasion, from 9.00 PM until lateat night, will host“Tango and Fashion, a great passion!”, the show starring Roberto Herrera, one of the most celebrated tangueros in the world, who will turn the venue into a proper milonga.

Furthermore, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana will renew its support of the young promises of Made in Italy with a series of dedicated events. N.U.De. New Upcoming Designers will be on the catwalk of the fashion-show hall at Palazzo della Ragione on September 23rd at 2.30 PM.

Inside Palazzo Giureconsulti it is a Temporary Showroom, a space devoted to the static presentation of the oufits by the young fashion designers who have been selected by the most important fashion contests, and, during the whole week, in the prestigious Mercedes Vip Lounge emerging designers will display their collections that are also going to be shown every day on via Mercanti, creating an event open to the public.

Besides, on September 20th the Fashion Hub of Palazzo Giureconsulti will host the workshop, “Talent Day 2013: making the most of personal excellence between competence and self- entrepreneurship” developed in collaboration with Adecco Training for young people who wish to work in the fashion business.

Another novelty of this year is the evolution of cameramoda.it website which shows a completely renewed graphic design. On www.cameramoda.it it is possible to follow the fashion week live: live streaming of fashion shows, and photo gallery.

The Milan public has the opportunity of personally experiencing the fashion week through the megascreens placed in strategic locations of the city centre: via Mercanti, Piazza Cordusio, Piazza della Scala, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and piazza San Babila. The images of the fashion shows on www.cameramoda.it will be streamed live on the screens.
The 2014 spring/summer collections are shown from September 18th to September 23rd.
