Golden Lighting and Hubbardton Forge win 2012 Pinnacle Awards

The American Society of Furniture Designers (ASFD) board of directors created the Pinnacle Design Achievement Awards in April 1995 to encourage superior design quality and promote the recognition of furniture designers within the retail home furnishings industry.

This year’s Pinnacle Award winners were announced at the High Point Market and two premier lighting companies were named winners, Golden Lighting and Hubbardton Forge each won in different categories; Golden Lighting won the lighting category and Hubbardton Forge took the win for the Green Leaf category for sustainable design.

Hubbardton Forge earned this year’s Green Leaf title; according to asfd.com, Green Leaf “entries include products that meet the most discerning design standards while also meeting a legitimately eco-friendly profile.”

Hubbardton Forge took the win with the beautifully made, hand-forged Brindille table lamp, which is designed and manufactured by Vermont artisans and is made of recycled steel. This is not Hubbardton Forge’s first Pinnacle Award; Hubbardton Forge was the first to win the same Green Leaf Award for Eco-Friendly Design in 2010 with the Ondrian table lamp and floor lamp.

The ASFD Pinnacle Awards are judged by a jury of 12 industry professionals and is based on certain criteria of design excellence including: Form and Function, Innovation, Retailer & Manufacturing Benefit and Consumer Benefit.

The ASFD was founded in 1981 and “is the only International non-profit professional organization dedicated to advancing, improving and supporting the profession of furniture design and its positive impact in the marketplace.”
