18th Gala Spa Awards 2014: The nominees for the internationally renowned Beauty and Spa Award

The GALA SPA AWARDS 2014 is one of the most important international beauty and spa awards in the world. Only first-class care products and spas that meet the holistic requirements of the GALA SPA AWARDS, epitomised by the motto “sanus per aquam – health through water”, reach the final selection. Companies from 30 countries were given the chance to submit their spa locations and luxury hotels, as well as innovative beauty products and exceptional treatments.

A total of 115 hotel and day spa concepts, as well as 117 care product lines comprising 234 products, took part in the 2014 competition. The expert judging penal offer a special award for natural cosmetics for the first time, which will be announced only on the evening of the award ceremony itself.

The winners will be honoured at the award ceremony for the 18th GALA SPA AWARDS 2014 at Brenners Park- & Spa-Hotel in Baden-Baden on March 15. The glamorous award is one of the highlights in the anniversary year of GALA magazine, which celebrates its 20th birthday.

 

  • In the “Luxury Concepts” category, the following products made the final selection:

3LAB – 3 LAB Super Cream, 3 LAB H Serum, 3 LAB Perfect Cleansing Scrub;
Giorgio Armani – Crema Nera Extrema Supreme Reviving Cream;
Shiseido – Bio-Performance Advanced Super Restoring Cream.

 

  • Nominees in the “Innovation Concepts” category include:

Lancôme – DreamTone;
Sisley – Botanical D-Tox;
Clarins – Double Serum Complete Age Control Concentrate.

  • The following concepts are nominated in the “Cult Concepts” category:

Glamglow – Tingling & Exfoliating Mud Mask;
Estée Lauder – Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II;
Clarisonic – Clarisonic Mia 2.

 

  • The nominees in the “Men Concepts” category are as follows:

Lierac Premium Homme – Lierac Premium Homme Anti-Age Fluid;
Kiehl’s – Facial Fuel Heavy Lifting;
Armani Men – Armani Men Perfect Master.

 

  • The nominees in the “Treatment Concepts” category are:

Dr. Alkaitis – Skin Food Facial;
La Biosthétique – Patch Gel Visage;
!QMS – Ion Skin Equalizer.

 

  • This year’s nominees in the “Luxury Hotel City/Resort” category are:

Alpina Gstaad in Gstaad/ Swiss;
Shangri-La Bosphorus in Istanbul/ Turkey;
Jumeirah Zabeel Saray in Dubai/ United Arab Emirates.

 

  • Nominees with a chance to win the prize in the “Innovative Spa Concepts” category are:

Anazoe Spa Costa Navarino in Peleponnes/ Greece;
Como Shambhala Urban Escape at the Hotel Metropolitan in London/ United Kingdom;
Six Senses Zighy Bay in Oman.

 

 

As a special highlight, this year’s “Beauty Idol” and the winner of the “Special Prize” will be announced on the evening of the award ceremony itself.

Features that distinguish the “Beauty Idol” as a spa personality are an attractive appearance, vitality, a positive attitude and a health-conscious lifestyle that corresponds to the spa concept. Previous award winners include Toni Garrn, Karolina Kurkova, Julie Delpy, Vanessa Redgrave, Joseph Fiennes, Ornella Muti, and Iris Berben.

With the annual “Special Prize“, the judging panel honours people who have realised, added to and promoted the spa concept in an outstanding and professional manner. Previous award winners include the french scientist and social entrepreneur Philippe Pierre Cousteau, Benny Adrion for his commitment to the non-profit association, “Viva con Agua“, photographer and ecologist Sebastian Copeland and the interior design icon and grande dame of elegant purism, Andrée Putman, among others.
